My bunny Lucy s about 9 weeks old and I got her at 7 weeks. Last week I noticed her sneezing a bit and having a wet nose so I took her to the vet. She said it might be allegies or an infection and prescribed me an oral dose of antibiotics. So far, Lucy has been hopping around and playing, eating and drinking regularly and passing normal poops.  Her diet consist of pellet, timothy hay, and lots of grass. As far as I can tell, her temperature has been the same since I took her to the vet on Monday. On Tuesday, I noticed a little whitish snot on her nose but I havnt seen any since. She is still sneezing but her nose seems a little drier and today she seemed to eat a lot more than she usually does-not sure if its a growth spurt?? I noticed today three uneaten ceco’s and was wondering if it was because of the antibiotics that her tummy may be upset? I also noticed a couple of pellets that were about half as big as usual and was a little worried but the pellets she passed 15 min ago were very normal. any advice you have would be greatly apprecated! I am a new bunny owner with LOTS of questions- I love my bun and I want her to be healthy!

Sounds like the antibiotics are working and she is starting to eat normally. It is quite normal for babies to have a few extra cecals because their diet should be unlimited and she is getting all the good extra nutrients. Just make sure her pellet mix is plain premium quality with no seeds or fruity bits.
Her poops could also be a bit larger for the same reason if they were small before it may be due to the infection.
Monitor her sneezing and the nasal discharge, if it continues or returns she may need to have a culture done on the discharge to identify the exact infection.

Be cautious and watch her poops. The bad thing about antibiotics is they also kill the good bacteria that she needs to keep her gut in good balance. The antibiotics not only attacks the bad bacteria, but the good bacteria too and that can be causing the smaller poops.

Call and ask your vet if it is ok to give her some form of biotic while she is on the antibiotic. I know benebac is a common and popular brand to give your bunny beneficial bacteria.

Continue to monitor her poops and nasal discharge. If you notice a lack of poops consult the vet immediately. Also make sure your vet is rabbit savvy as some medicines you can use on a dog or cat you cannot use on a bunny.

Hope your bunny gets better soon!

Hi guys, she just pooped and they were lighter in color, softer, and kind of wet- and these are fecal pellets!
I called the vet and they cant get her in until tomorrow. She seems to be eating and drinking and playing ok so I’m wondering if its the antibiotics…?

That could be due to the antibiotics. I would mention it to your vet. My vet recommends a dose of Benebac every few days while on oral antibiotics.
