Help! I’ve got a dutch male and I’m not sure if this is normal-there’s a yellow discharge coming out from his nose. I’ve already booked an appointment to the vets for next Monday, but should I be really concerned? and is there something I can do now if he’s ill?

Here are some photos of his nose (I covered his eyes so the light didn’t scare or hurt him):

Images are broken, but colored nasal discharge means there’s an infection, most likely an upper respiratory infection (URI). You’ll probably be prescribed antibiotics, so be sure to also ask for a probiotic so your rabbit’s digestive system does not get disturbed while on antibiotics.

For now, keep encouraging hay appetite so his stomach is moving as normal, and you can use a damp towel to groom his nose if it’s getting to crusty.

          Sending your rabbit healing vibes!!
