            Welcome to BB…

            That’s quite a handful of rabbits you have! How are they housed, are the older ones a bonded trio? I’m assuming the younger ones aren’t spay/neutered yet because they’re too young.

                Welcome – are you planning on getting your rabbits spayed and neutered soon so that you don’t have to worry about anymore surprise litters? I know trying to find homes and dealing with that has to be extremely stressful.

                   Beka27;

                  The younger one’s are bonded and so are the older ones.

                  They’re not housed outside but the building they live in is outside, they have a room to theirselves that has multiple cages, a table, food containers, and hay containers on a table in between the cages. Oreo and Crystal are housed together, Hershey, Thumper, and Smokey are hosed seperately and Smokey is housed with her lttle of four.

                     Sarita;

                    Probably not. I don’t really like the idea of it. That’s why we adopt boys/girls from the same litters and house the same gender together.

                    We took care of our surprise litter problem when we seperated them and then learned how to tell the sex. (:

                      Welcome to BB! Wow, that’s a lot of bunnies.

                      Why are you hesitant to neuter/spay them? Unspayed females have an above 80% chance of developing reproductive cancer by the time they’re 3. They really need to be spayed if you want them to live a long, healthy life. The males should be done as well, not because of cancer risks but because they have an insane sex drive. Imagine you want something so badly you think of it every minute of every day, but you can never have it. They are comparable to a drug addict looking for their next fix. It’s not a nice way to live. They’ll never be able to really relax and enjoy themselves. Please reconsider having them fixed, even if only the females, it’s most likely gonna save their little lives down the road.

                      Hormonal behavior often leads to fighting as well.

                      Also, we’d love to see pictures of your buns.

                        Hazel;;
                        I get that it may be a good idea, but my parents strongly don’t believe in taking small animals to the vet for any reason. If I could change their mind, I would.

                        I’ll have to see if I can upload a picture to my laptop
                        ^^;

                          I’ve gotta second Hazel, they should all be spayed and neutered (the girls really are a must). Small animals have just as much of a need to see a vet as any other animal. Bunnies can live for 8~12 years if they are spayed/neutered and cared for properly.  That is a significant amount of time, in line with a dog or cat, but the chances of them living their full life without ever seeing a vet is slim to none.  They require care and yes, vet services on occasion. Getting them fixed is not just a good idea, it’s vital to the rabbit’s health and if they are all housed inside it’s pretty important to your sanity since getting them fixed improves litter habits and a lot of the digging/chewing urges.  Honestly, your girl bunnies only have a 20% chance of living past 3~4 years old unless they are fixed.  That’s simply not a risk I’m willing to take.
                          I am assuming you are a minor if you are living with your parents so I understand that you don’t have control over these things but you really need to do your research and discuss this in detail with your parents. Pets are a lot of work and you and your parents are responsible for their care and doing what’s best for their health and safety. Right now that means getting them spayed and neutered. Maybe discuss a way for you to make some money to put away towards getting them fixed/emergency vet money. Perhaps getting them fixed as a birthday/christmas gift. Look into rescue centers in your area who might do low cost spays and compare vets for prices and expertise. Maybe you can see about getting a discount since you have so many bunnies. Be informed about what your rabbits need and be creative on ways to accomplish it.

                          Also, are you absolutely sure about the genders? Bunnies do not care at all that they were from the same litter, unfixed bunnies breed. That’s what they do. Regardless of relation. The younger ones are still too young to breed but in a few months… :/
                          It’s also really hard on females to get pregnant at a really young age so it’s something you really don’t want to happen.

                            bpash89;;

                            Money is tight as it is, hence why we’re being careful to not get any more surprise litters.
                            We are positive about the genders of them and the one’s we do have to sell soon get sold to our neighbors who we bought the house from, since they have an 9 year old son who is absoloutely in love with them. Yes, I am a minor. I live on a farm with over 40 animals and if we could get every animal here spayed/neutered I’m sure we would but it’s just not possible. And besides, it is almost impossible to find a vet who knows what they’re doing with rabbits here. I live in the middle of nowhere in the country. But, I will try to see if we can find a way to get at least the older girls spayed, especially my two babies Oreo and Crystal.
