Hi, my name is Una and I’m from Latvia. 3 months ago I got my very first rabbit, more directly speaking, my rabbit found me. I got him from very strange owners, who had kept him in a small hamster cage, although they understood it was too small for him and then decided to get rid of him, because they wouldn’t be allowed to keep pets in their new flat. The first time I saw his photo I knew that this is my rabbit, it was definitely love at first sight! I read every article I could find about bunnies, watched Howcast for God -knows -how many times and got him a nice big cage. And then with a heart warming “well, he’ll make a good collar at least” his owners gave him over to me. He was rather small and he didn’t move around much and didn’t know how to jump, but after exercising together he binkies almost every day and jumps into every box-like object
So, his name is Gustav Klimt, named after his favorite artist, whose Taschen art series book apparently tastes the best
. He is one year old and the previous owners got him from a pet store. They were told that he was an Angora rabbit, but it is quite obvious that he is a dwarf lop, although a friend of mine suggested that he might have something from the Vienna blue, but I don’t care about the breed that much. He is not neutered, but that hasn’t affected his behavior – he was easy to litter-train, has never ever lunged or growled at me, and is exceptionally affectionate. I was surprised to hear that he peed on the previous owner’s pillow, nothing like that has ever happened since he’s been with me. To satisfy his romantic endeavors, he picked a toy owl, and it’s lovely to see how attached he is to the owl.
He is the perfect pet in every sense. When I fainted, he even kept licking me until I woke up, I can freely pretend I’m also eating his food and he won’t mind.
It is really great that I’ve found this site, because there is a lot of specific behavioral stuff about these silly goofballs that aren’t covered elsewhere, and that does save a bunny lover a few heart attacks. And, of course, thanks to my loyal and loving chap I’ve gone completely bunny-crazy.
