        Introducing Halo! A giant Chinchilla!

Halo: Cuddling with her food bowl

this was right after we got her home…. She said “How dare you! Look at my hair it’s all messed up! Do you know how long its going to take to fix this!?!” She spent the next few hours grooming.

“I think I will lay here” -Halo

Ready for a shocker? The bunny who will eat anything is laying right next to the door to the pantry…lol

        “Can I chew on this?”

Introducing Sir Thumps alot (aka Lil’ Bud)..A (very adorable) Holland Lop

        “Did you hear that?”

I really need to get more pics of bud but he likes to lounge behind the couch when let out…and it’s hard to catch his binkies cause hes so fast!

          Welcome.
How old are your bunnies? Where/When did you get them? Are they spayed/neutered? will you be trying to bond them if/when they are?

Let’s see Halo is about a year old and my sister got her from a farm. They told her it was a German Giant (which it might have had relation to…but that coat is definitly chinchilla) We have not gotten her spayed yet just because I have yet to find a vet im comfortable with doing the surgery. (the one who did Bud’s nueter is down where I used to live but he didnt seem to know the first thing about buns and hairballs)

Bud is about a year and a half and I bought him from a pet store (the SPCA where I used to live very rarely gets buns in…which could or could not be a good thing depending on how you look at it) He was nuetered about a year ago.

They are pretty close but I do not think we are gonna try to permantly bond them. Although they do always interact when on is let out for playtime…they always go up to each others cage and groom each other so if we did decide to bond them, I doubt it would be that difficult.

Halo has the biggest ears and tail of any rabbit I have ever seen. She has eyelashes that many human females would beg for…very long and dark.
Halo always gets excited if you go by her cage (their cages are in the living room) and she always begs for treats and pets. soo cute

Bud only gets excited when I walk by but Halo is an attention hog…and she loves getting her picture taken (just not too fond of the flash)

Look at that big girl! Is she huggable? lol. I particularly like the one of her guarding the pantry! hehe

And Bud…..well I’m just going to have to demand more pictures as I just cannot see his adorableness there.

Have you checked out the HRS vet listings? (http://www.rabbit.org/vets/vets.html) Also, if your happy to post the general area where you are, other members might be able to recommend a vet.

I hope you do consider bonding them in the future if they show good signs now. Plus a big girl and a little holland boy would be too cute together!

You can’t liitterally hug her (you are advised against picking her up) but she is possibly the cuddliest, most people friendly rabbit I have ever met. Perhaps she thinks she is a dog… When she was wee little she grew up around a new litter of cats (my sister sometimes forgets how babies are made… boy cat + girl cat = litter!) and she taught the kittens to binky. It was so precious. She also was around a few small dogs (which she turned out to be bigger than!) and lots of people who pet her. She pretty much had free roam of the house (all before she was even litter trained) My hubby jokingly said the other day that a vet could give her a full exam and she wouldn’t care as long as she had some food and someone was petting her. (she is NOT spoiled at all…nope 🙂 lol)

More pics of bud are definitly coming up… he also grew up around a pup (who he quickly showed who was boss… and here I was worried about that dog playing too rough with bud…nope) Actually the first several months our pup was very protective of bud…making sure when he was hoping he wasn’t hurt… and god forbid he went behind the couch… We used to say to the pup all the time… “wheres the bunny?” and he would show us where he was.. It was really good to have such a keen nose around. Bud is the only rabbit that I ever had that groomed me back until Halo started to get the gist of it…she still won’t do it very often though..(she actually pulls too much and bud gets mad at her sometimes…Guess she doesnt know her own strength)

HRS vet listing…I”ve been meaning to do that! We are looking for one in the Williamsport, Pa area. They are actually overdue for their annual checkups too so I really gotta get on the ball.

It was very lucky that they get along so well considering they never “dated” They were gotten around the same time…and my sister (Jenn) always said Halo was younger…but now I’m not so sure… they might be very close to the same age… Although that probably doesnt havemuch affect on bonding them. If we manage to get a bigger apparment (namly a bigger kitchen) I’d like to bond them and set up an area out of NIC cubes…and have them be free roaming when I’m home…but I just gotta stop Halo’s destructive instincts. I’m sure the spay will help…

No doubt they would be just adorable together…I’ve let them spend some (very limited) time together (Halo is hard to keep an eye on…she is like a 2 year old with a ton of energy who gets into EVERYTHING) and they argue over who is going to groom who…and it’s so funny because Bud is very dominant and he is like a third of her size. It’s just a bit ridiculous how they interact but I know they could be good friends.
I’m pretty sure that they only way we are going to find a big enough cage for both of them to fit in…is if A) We shrink Halo or B) We build it ourselves… Luckily, Hubby is very handy…hmm lol

                  ….Oh hubby wubby?

Everyone almost instantly falls in love with Halo. It’s just so hard not to. She knows this and she takes full advantage of it too.

Aww Sammy sounds soo cute. I’m sure that he’ll get adopted soon.

Actually Jenn (my sister who got her) didn’t know she was a giant at first…so when she exploded she’s like “how big is she gonna get?” Uh yeah…she’s about 2.5 feet long now stretched out..I think she might be finally done growing thankfully.
