Hmm…where to start?
Eddie is a 3 year old mini lop and Lollipop is a1 1/2 year old mini rex. I had Eddie for a year before I got Lolli. Best decision I ever made cause Eddie needed a friend. Oh he was perfectly happy. He was just superbonded to me and it started driving me nuts. Don’t get me wrong, it was cute and sweet that he’d have to sleep next to the bed or under the end table (depending on where I was sleeping) with me. It just got annoying when he would decide I needed to be up with him and would jump on me repeatedly and make a lot of noise until I got up. Since he finally got me up, it was a perfect time for him to go take a nap. lol Plus he’d have to jump up on my lap and blankets and continually dig. So little things like that. lol
Eddie is very social, affectionate and into everything. According to him, his official name his His Royal Highness and Majesty, King Eddie. I don’t think a rabbit can get more bossy. He likes to boss me around by nipping my ankles sometimes to hurry up with the lettuce or treats. Ticks me off so bad. lol But he will snuggle and give kisses like crazy. He’s a bit high strung. Not badly or anything. He just scares easily – probably cause of those floppy ears. I swear he can’t hear sometimes. I’ll be calling him name several times to get his attention when he’s just sitting there and all of a sudden, he’ll perk up and be like “who? me?” He loves – no, DEMANDS – his treats. lol It’s hard to describe, but we have a very special bond.
He gets jealous and pouty. I know this sounds crazy, but I swear he doesn’t like it when I’m on the phone with someone. If he’s not in the room, he’ll hop to where I’m at when I’m on the phone and will just sit there with this grumpy, disapproving look until I get off the phone. And I recently met a guy and had him over and Eddie was pouty for a week and half. I knew he would not be happy with another male giving me attention, but I didn’t think his jealous pout would last that long. I know he’s being pouty cause he will not want me to pet him and will not give me kisses. He’s generally very affectionate. He generally likes to be picked up and snuggled. If I hold my hands/arms out and ask him if he wants to snuggle, he’ll hop up to me if he does. Otherwise, he hops off. lol I call him a fuddy duddy cause he likes his routine and has a circuit he does of the apartment when I let them out of the pen. He’ll do this circuit several times a day too. And while he doesn’t get agressive or anything, everything has to be in its place when I clean and vacuum their pen area. LOL
Eddie’s the one who gets into mischief. He fell into a cardboard box once. I had ordered a Christmas present and left it in the box until I could wrap and of course Eddie had to jump on the box and promptly fell thru the flaps. He also got a plastic grocery bag stuck on him. He was perfectly fine. He went through one of the handles and it got caught around his middle. But it was situated on his back, so he looked like he had a cape on. I took a picture of course and then got it off him. It was NOT even tight on him. He could’ve jumped through it and gotten “free”. And he is a big baby so whenever he gets scared, I have to comfort him. At the vets, he literally makes me hold him. I tried sitting him on the counter right in front of me cause I was tired of holding him and he just climbed back into my arms. lol
Miss Lollpop is a very sweet, “no touching” girl. She will never like being picked up or much attention, but she does like me telling her she’s a pretty girl and will now accept nose pets when she’s relaxing. I made the mistake of bonding her and Eddie before I got her really bonded with me. Although I’m not sure she would’ve ever really bonded with me. I think we are probably the most bonded we’ll ever get just because of how she is. Eddie is my spooky Attention wh*re and Lolli is my laid back, chillen little grl. She is very affectionate to Eddie though. So she interacts a lot more with him which is fine. She is also very submissive and timid. I know for quite a while (probably well over a year) she did not like me raising me voice. It would scare her and make her scared of me if I got mad and yelled or something. Not at them per se, just in general. So it’s taken her a whle to trust me I think. Now when I yell she’s like “ooo, whadda he do?” cause it’s usually Eddie doing something. LOL
Until recently, I didn’t think she liked me cause I pick her up every couple of weeks to check her over and to clip her nails. lol Plus she’s had to go to the vet a few times for sutures and I’ve had to handle and pick her up for that as well. So most of my handling has been a result of negative things. Poor little girl. lol I’d feel so bad. But she now tolerates snuggle time for about 10 minutes if that’s all we do. Just lay on the couch and snuggle and I stroke her all over. She grinds her teeth. She has also started coming up and nose bumping me.
She is quite cheeky though. She has her no – no game where she’ll mess with something she knows she’s not supposed to and when I tell her no and move to shoo her away, she’ll hop off and do binkies. LOL And she does her teasing where she’ll dart up, nudge me, and dart off. Where Eddie has to have his routine and everything in its place, Lolli does fine with change and loves to rearrange their pen. I will find things in their litter box – toys, cardboard boxes. lol If I’m moving things around in the apartment, she’ll come out to check things out and is totally fine with change. Eddie hates change and gets a bit confused and disgruntled when I change anything. Even when I’m just moving their toys and litter box, etc. out of their pen area to clean and vacuum, he’ll come out and give me disapproving looks. Lolli’s always like “what are we moving next?!” LOL
She’s very inquisitive and not too fearful. She does have her moments where she will get scared, but for the most part, she’s just really kind of laid back. Eddie’s always scaring himself and thumping and taking off for cover. Lolli just looks at him like he’s dumb. LOL When I have someone over, she is usually the first one to come out and check things out. When I take her to the vet, she’ll sit up on her hind legs to check everything out. She’s always sitting up on her hind legs to see what’s going on. She doesn’t get too nervous about car rides either. Just lays in the carrier or laundry basket if I’m taking both of them. Which helps considering how much a needy baby Eddie is. LOL
Ok, I think i’ve rambled on quite long enough. They are my babies so I tend to talk about them a lot. Eddie is the mini lop and Lolli’s the other in the pick.
