We recently lost our beloved Luna, she was a 6 year old Rex and passed peacefully at the Vet urgent care……I miss her soooo much.

Then three weeks ago my husband surprised me with these 2 cuties, he was told they were Mini Rex breed and around 7-8 weeks old siblings. Both weighed right around 1lb each then and now are 1lb 7oz…we think they are does but not 100% sure yet (may have to re-think the names in the future LoL).

We have been told that they may not be Mini Rex breed from a couple of Pure Mini Rex breeders (the person we got them from breeds Netherland Dwarfs and Mini Rex) so unsure if they are a cross but he insists they are Mini Rex……………What do you think?

I have questions about bonding but will post in Bonding forum.

          Aww, so cute!

When you breed two rex rabbits, you will get rex coats because the rex fur gene is recessive (i.e. you need two copies, one from each parent). Now there are rex coats that are not “ideal”, where the guard hairs are too long or the coat is too coarse. But I don’t think that’s what’s going on here. If the breeder just has rex and nethie, then I’d say some nethie got in there. It could have been accidental (breeding through the bars) or intentional (wanted to introduce a different color/pattern into the breeding stock). Either way, these adorable babies don’t have rex coats.
