Inside rabbits with dogs?

I really really want a bunny but my mum thinks it’s going to drive my dogs (2 cocker spaniels) crazy. Please tell me things I can tell her to convince her ??thank u!

My rabbit Zeke gets along with my dog Gus.But every dog is a different case. If you get a bunny, slowly introduce it to your dog, through the safety of its cage. If your dogs show little interest,just sniff and leave that’s a good sign. But if they show loads of interest and your rabbit starts to get nervous take a step back. It all depends on the dog and rabbit and their unique behavior. I hope this helps a bit..

I keep my rabbits and dogs completely 100 thousand percent separate. I have a baby gate up so the dogs can’t get down the hallway or into the bedrooms. They have the lounge, dining/kitchen area, and sunroom. The rabbits have the hallway and bedrooms. Every case is different – my dogs would kill my rabbits, cat, and birds. Not out of aggression – but out of the instinct to chase things that move. Especially squeaky things – live squeaky toys…

I agree it depends on each individual bunny and dog. I have 2 dogs a yorkie and a st.bernad/german shepherd mix that is over 100 pounds and he does great with any pet he has been around. They climb all over him and he could care less. He is only 1 1/2. My little yorkie gets along with Luna but she don’t really care one way or the other. It may have helped that Leo was raised with Sophie and her being a little dog maybe made him social to little animals, I’m not sure. When he started getting bigger I was affraid at first I had made a mistake bringing a big dog into a house with a little dog but as he grew and we watched them together you could see Sophie was ruling the friendship and the way things would go. So I would say it totally depends on the personality and temperment of each animal.

I agree it definitely depends on the dog! If your dogs are well trained and listen well then it will be even less of a problem. My dogs (2 pomeranians) have met my rabbit through the cage a few times. They have also been in the same room for short periods of time while my rabbit has play time. However, they are monitored very closely and I am constantly telling them to be gentle. I only allow my dogs to be in the room for bunny play time for about 5-10 minutes at a time. Then they have to go back out to the living room until he is in his cage. The bunny doesnt seem to mind the dogs at all, but again I make sure I pay close attention that my dogs dont chase the bunny when he starts to hop around. We are working up to having everyone in the same room. I will say it is entirely possible to have your rabbits and dogs get along. I have seen dogs and rabbits become great friends! But it takes time and a lot of patience before you can trust that your dogs wont decide the rabbit is something to chase!

My boyfriends two yorkies wouldn’t hurt the rabbits. The female would completely ignore them, but the male would bark at them.
