I’m sure some of you have seen this, since it has almost 35 million views, but my coworker just showed this to me today and I can’t stop watching!!

what’s fascinating to me is it really does seem like they are communicating with eachother, but in their own language. for members who have kids, I wonder if there’s any insight on developmental speech in your experience. my mind is going all twirly right now to see that we understand the idea of communication with one another, before we even know HOW to convey it. my favorite comment is the one that says they’re trying to figure out what happened to one of their socks LOL

I think they’re communicating. Twins can apparently hug and fight and other stuff in the womb, so why wouldn’t they be able to communicate? lol I remember my nephew, niece and various cousins when they were toddlers with little to no vocabulary and they’d try to communicate with the adults around them. They definitely knew what THEY were saying. I knew cause I’d get those “you’re an idiot” looks from them when they’d come babble something to me. Much like the same look Lolli gives me. LOL

THAT is like THE most adorable thing I’ve ever seen, and I’m not really a ‘kid’ person-WOWOW SQUEEEE!!! So cute, so intelligibre. I think you’d want to ask chimps what they think as they use body language.
Hey speaking of which…who does baby sign language? Thats a neat idea and puts an interesting twist on things…
I ditto-they are communicating. I was thinking one was selling popsicles in the others territory; the sock was supposed to be a signal…

I’m not a kid person either but this is SO FREAKING CUTE!! hahaha. I heard there’s a documentary about this pair of twins who really did make up their own language as kids, and they are grown up and still communicate to eachother that way. makes me want to study linguistics or child development on the side! they are totally having a conversation; one talks, the other waits until they’re done and then responds. and the gestures hahaha. I like when he puts his foot on the fridge like “BRO LOOK AT MY BARE FOOT! WHERE IS MY SOCK!?!”

Twin talk. I babysat a pair of fraternal twins when I was a teen, and their mom once told me about how when they were toddlers, they used to babble to each other in their own language all the time.
