Lani,
I am so sorry you’re having to go through this. I lost my husband to suicide in 2003, he had a terrible reaction to a medication and became psychotic. It is the most difficult of losses to go through because so many times it makes no sense and seems like a supreme waste. Not just family, but friends and coworkers are terribly affected because everyone thinks they or someone should have been able to prevent it, but you really can’t. It is a rough road and people unaffected by it won’t understand what you’re going through and may say or do things meaning to be kind, but it just doesn’t work in this situation.
I belong to a very good site with a lot of great information about why suicides can happen and help for coping with the loss. It also has articles on how you can help a survivor cope and provide comfort in a situation where people just don’t know how to help or what to say.
Please feel free to email me if you want.
