I really need a pick me up today, it was a truly horrible day at work. A coworker of mine comitted suicide last night. I wasn’t especially close to that person but I did work with them but when it’s someone you interact with regularly and your work life is so influenced by them, it just makes it…hard. It was so unexpected and surreal.  I still can’t believe it. Like I have no words, just this awful, sick feeling in my stomach. Everyone at the office was just stunned and horribly sad and it’s so hard to think that person is just gone.

When I got home I decided to spend some extra time with the bun tonight and edit some photos I’ve been meaning to post for a while (I’ll post them when I feel a little better) to keep my mind on more positive things. Oreo must have sensed that I was having an awful day cause she was extra nice and even flopped next to me and let me pet her while she was lying down…usually no one gets to touch miss priss when she’s lounging. I could really use some positive thoughts, words, prayers, vibes…anything. Even jokes. I’ll take anything positive to keep my mind on other things.

                  Lani,

Don’t animals have the most incredible… sense of how we feel?

After having Chacha for 2 months.. I was depressed one night and cried over losing my mom (it was still very fresh in my mind).. she was a baby and was scared to death of me .. but I put my head up to her and she kissed my face and flopped next to me. That is when I knew I met my bestfriend ..

                  Crooked Bunnah tail!

I’m so sorry this has happened to someone you interact with on a regular basis. Just be sure and take care of yourself.

LoveChaCha, I really do believe animals have a unique ability to just *know* sometimes

Thanks guys, this really helps. I’m nervous and sad about how it’s going to be tomorrow to just see an empty desk. He worked there for decades so he was an institution in the office. The pictures/links/vids are a really great distraction and made me smile. You guys are wonderful

                        Sorry to hear that.

Animals are amazing at reading our emotions. My dog is especially good at telling if someone is sad or not feeling well.

For your viewing pleasure, a ticklish penguin. My facebook friends have been spamming this one all last week.

Aww thats terrible! .. i know the feeling! *hugs* and isnt it nice how animals can make us feel alot better with there senses! keep your family and friends close and when you feel sad my technique is to write my feelings down and then get rid of it in any way you want so you feel like you’ve got everything out what you want to say but dont leave it to read or anything because it may upset you thats why you get rid of it

I’m sorry to hear about this. I can relate…even if you’re not especially close to the person, when someone takes their own life it just leaves everyone with an awful feeling.

It’s amazing how animals know when you really need them. Hope these pics make you smile (the baby koala is one of my fave pics of all-time!)

Thanks everyone, all of this really made me smile and helped me get through the day. It’s still hard to comprehend why this happened but this truly has helped. It’s so great to know that I can turn to you all to help cheer me up and be there. I’m so grateful for all of you

                                Lani,

I am so sorry you’re having to go through this. I lost my husband to suicide in 2003, he had a terrible reaction to a medication and became psychotic. It is the most difficult of losses to go through because so many times it makes no sense and seems like a supreme waste. Not just family, but friends and coworkers are terribly affected because everyone thinks they or someone should have been able to prevent it, but you really can’t. It is a rough road and people unaffected by it won’t understand what you’re going through and may say or do things meaning to be kind, but it just doesn’t work in this situation.

I belong to a very good site with a lot of great information about why suicides can happen and help for coping with the loss. It also has articles on how you can help a survivor cope and provide comfort in a situation where people just don’t know how to help or what to say.

Please feel free to email me if you want.

((sending lots and lots of bunny hugs)))  Kathy
