Hi! I’m new to Binkybunny so if this isn’t a proper sort of post, please excuse me…

On August 29, 2015, I got my very first ever (big mammal) pet: an adorable little bunny! His name is Sesame, but we call him Bunbun, just ’cause. I still don’t know what breed he is, but I’m guessing around a mix of Hotot and Rex (he doesn’t have lop ears). He was born in June 2015, so he’s 10 months now. We don’t know the exact date he was born. When we got him he was three months. He was so tiny!

He isn’t neutered, so he does growl and bite a little bit, but not much. He’s playful, energetic, adorable, floppy, and cuddly. He’s a mix of a dog, cat, and bunny – he follows me everywhere, wrecks whatever he can, likes to sit on windowsills, flops, binkys, looks adorable, and makes a wheezy sound. He has a REALLY strong personality and can sulk really bad. He loves attention! To sum it up, he is THE BEST BUN!

He is white with some greyish brown blobs on his body, ears, and around his eyes – like he did some really bad mascara. He’s in my profile picture. I’m planning to change it to a better picture soon.

He’s my first bunny, and I love him to death!! I decided to get a rabbit when my friend told me she had one, so I went and got one myself too. I would have gotten a cat, but they are rather pricey. Bunnies, however, are quiet, cheap to have, and adorable!

He has free reign all over the main floor of the house. I can’t remember exactly when he stopped going inside his cage, but now we can’t get him in! We used to take him outside, but after a disaster when he refused to come back in and it took hours until we finally grabbed him, we stopped letting him play outside. He is the naughtiest thing on earth.

All in all, I love my bunny. And, I hope, he loves me!

Hi and welcome to Binky Bunny!
Bunbun sounds adorable and very active. You may want to know that having a bunny may be more pricey than what you may have imagined – there’s a link to an article about this in the Bunny Info tab above.
It sounds like you’re taking good care of him and giving him lots of space to play. Congratulations on your new pet!

Welcome to Binky Bunny! As Beetiza said, rabbits are not necessarily inexpensive animals to keep.

It’s good that you have decided to keep him inside. They are a lot safer there. Even in fenced yards, a predator can come out of nowhere and scare or harm a rabbit, plus there are parasites that a rabbit can pick up outdoors. If he has plenty of room to run around in your house (in bunny proofed rooms) he should be very happy.

              Hello and Welcome to BB!!!

I’m owned by 2 bunnies, Bindi Loo and Olivia.

Hope this doesn’t scare you but my Mr. Bindi has cost me more in vet bills than all my other animals combined. I find buns more expensive than cats diet wise too, especially in winter when produce prices are so high.

I guess there’s a lot about bunnies I don’t know… I’m always REALLY paranoid the bunny will get sick, since they’re so tiny and vulnerable. Arghh!!

I live in Canada, so there are very cold winters and very hot summers – definitely can’t keep him outside!

In the summer, to keep him cool inside, I put frozen water bottles in his cage to keep him cool and a fan blowing (but not in his direction). However, that was when he actually went inside his cage! And when I got back home, the bottles weren’t even that cold anymore. Are there any other ways to keep bunnies cool?

Aww, they’re adorable! How old are they? I really hope Bunbun doesn’t get sick often. He hasn’t gotten sick so far thankfully, but he’s only ten months… who knows whats coming up??

To keep my buns cool in the summer, I have little dog crate fans that I attach to their condos and put a frozen bottle right in front of it. I also sometimes put a fan on in the rabbit room and put a cold, wet, wrung out, towel over it. I have a/c in the living room but not in the bunny room so it can get pretty hot in there. I’m very paranoid about them overheating because of the super hot, humid temps we have here. I keep a small room thermometer in there so I can monitor how hot it is.

Thanks. The little Harlequin in the blue blankie is my Bridge Bunny, Stormy. He will always have a very special place in Mommy’s heart. The green blankie is Bindi, he’s almost 9 and the pink blankie is Olivia. She’s around that age too. I hope to have them for many more years
