My mom has a time share so she booked a week in Gaitlinburg Tennessee.  So……that’s where we are now.  We just got in tonite so haven’t gone and done anything yet.  Honestly, I’m not posting about that.  LOL  What else would I post about?  My Lolligirl!!!

My dad is taking care of her this week.  I miss her so much!  But I think her and my dad might be bonded by the time I come home!    I called my dad to let him know we made it safe and sound.  I had been teasing him all weekend about if he was going to snuggle with her.  He told me he was afraid of hurting her.  I guess that’s true.  He told me she came out for him tonite and he gave her a pinch of oats (treat), her lettuce, and then filled up her pellet bowl.  *face palm*  She’s only supposed to get one 1/4 cup full of pellets if she’s out or close to being out.  Oh well.  No big deal or anything.  But he said he didn’t pick her up, just petted her while she ate.   AWWW!!

I guess I’ve forgotten how intimidating holding a rabbit can be.  haha   Really though, I don’t think he’s interested in holding her ever.  My dad is just not that way about any pets.  I’m surprised she didn’t growl at him.  He either didn’t know what she was doing, she was too freaked out cause grandpa was petting to growl, or I’m just special.  lol   Maybe my talks every night for the past week made a difference.  I kept telling her all last week to be nice and come out for grandpa.

I was worried about leaving her cause I always am.  I also wasn’t sure how well it would go with my dad taking care of her.   This is not against him or anything.  It’s just….no one takes care of your babies like you take care of your babies.  But I felt a lot more comfortable leaving her on this vacation than I have in the past.  Who knows……maybe my dad will let me get another bunny soon!    (fat chance….I keep asking, he keeps saying no)

Does she regularly get oats as treats? If so, that could be a partial cause of her weight issues…

Hope she gets your dad wrapped around her little paw soon

I meant to make her some treats with just ground up pellets and unsweetened apple sauce. Anyways….I forgot. She does get oats as a treat on a regular basis and I know it’s not good and is contributing to her weight gain. The good news is that my dad thinks she should be eating pellets only and I STRESSED just a pinch of oats. So….she is very likely only getting a tiny pinch of oats and that explains her bowl full of pellets. LOL

From what it sounded like tonite, she already has him wrapped her paw. haha We’ll see when I get home.

LOL…this is exactly why I don’t go anywhere! I couldn’t bear to let anyone else take my furbutts on! No matter how much trust I had in them.

Doesn’t it just steam your broccoli though, when someone who is inexperienced with your rabbit gets them to do things you may have been trying to get him/her to do for months? Like how Lolli seems to be being so cooperative with your dad? That would have me going, “Huh? But I’m MOM, why don’t you do this nicely for me?”

I often have the husband drive me to the vets with one or another of the bunnies. Usually, when I am in the car with them, I hear much scraping and scratching in the litter box, or an outright thump or two, usually a sign that somebunny does not approve of the moving car. (Can’t blame them, my hub is a crazy driver.) However, when he has to go pick said bunny up from a procedure without me, the bun is calm and quiet, not fussing and cussing, and apparently not because they’re terrified either because they’ll go up to the carrier door for noserubs from him. Mimzy in particular travels well with my husband. It really gets my goat.
I still wouldn’t let him take care of them. He wouldn’t know the first thing about how to manage them, although he took care of his grandpa’s horses when he was young and a rabbit is much like a horse in many ways, physiologically.

Anyway…sounds like things are going well for Lolli and your dad, that must be a relief! I hope you enjoy your vaca! What is there exactly to do in Gaitlinburg?

Well….there’s Dollywood – Dolly Parton’s place. But we’re not interested in going there. There’s lots of show type places and restaurants. There’s hiking which we want to do. shopping. It reminds us of Branson in a way – lights everywhere, attractions, restaurants, etc. all jammed packed along a 4 lane road. lol There’s not anything right now that we definitely want to do other than go hiking. We are just mainly wanting to relax and explore.

                And yes, it’s a relief.
