Mainly all my posts on this site have been about my bunny benjamin. We recently brought him in from the shed we normally keep him in because we thought he would heal better with our full attention on him. We noticed he has gotten a lot worse than before, he is obviously in a lot of pain because he sits hunched and shifts his weight from one side to another, and he does not bink or even run around anymore. He eats normally but he does not seem to be gaining any weight, he has actually lost weight and he is a small bunny to begin with. His genital area is a little better but his hocks are really bad, we’ve been wrapping them up with gauges and wrap we have also been putting this creme the vet gave us and Vaseline. His poo and pee are normal though. We are calling the vet tomorrow to see when we can get him in. I don’t know if we can afford to get tests done or not. I hate to be negative but i’m not sure how much longer I want to see him suffer. We are doing all we can afford to do. Any tips or anything you know that may help my situation will be greatly appreciated.

I am so sorry that you have to go through this. I would in this situation continue to do all I could for my bunny and monitor them closely. Definitely go to the vet often. You should pay attention to your bunnies perspective on his value of life. Ask questions such as these:

Does my bunny like to receive and give affection?
          Does he still enjoy food?
Does he still enjoy running and binkying?
          Does he seek attention?
Is he willing to learn tricks and receive treat?

If the answer for most of these is no and he does not show any signs of improvement, I would consider putting her out of her misery. I hope everything starts to get better with Benjamin.

I’m sorry that Benjamin hasn’t gotten better . I went back to your previous thread, and if you do decide to seek further treatment, I think you should go to a different vet to get a second opinion. It seems like his current vet has done all he can/is able to do for Benjamin, and maybe a different vet will have different ideas as to what exactly is wrong and how to help him? ((((Benjamin))))

I think the best bet would be to get him examined by your vet. If he has sore hocks that will be why he is not running around and shifting his weight. Really they need to be checked before wrapping for infection.

My bunny Finn isn’t very active and isn’t that keen on much attention. But his not ill. Some bunnies are just like that and rather be left alone. If his eating and pooping ok then he wont be in pain, but his hocks might be sore when he moves. So do get them checked out. Try not to loose hope. It can take a while with rabbits and bringing him inside will be best. But it will take him time to get use the his new surroundings.

Try giving more food. I am still trying to build Finn up when he lost weight due to dental issues. I mush his pellets up and mix a small handful of moist rolled oats in with his pellets. Rolled oats are good for weight gain.  Also try him on alfalfa hay which is more fattening.
