My three seniors have all had partners and now are in the same room but not bonded.

Peppermint lost his partner, Peaches about one month ago.  Bogie lost Chanel a few years ago.  And Toffee lost Twizzler probably a few years ago too.

I went upstairs to check on them and they are all stretched out and relaxed and I’m glad about that.  But it made me wonder what if anything they remember about their bonded friend.

I guess I’ve been very lucky that my rabbits have not had that grieving period that I’ve heard about in other rabbits.  They’ve seem to have adjusted nicely.  Maybe it’s been the companionship of the other rabbits in the room that they can see….I’m glad they are content in any event.

It does sound as though your Golden Bunnies are very comfy with one another’s presence. My three are still living in their same separate spaces so I think they take some comfort from one another’s nearness…but since Mimzy went deaf he’s lost a vital sense in knowing there’s somebun else there. So I’d really love to combine them for that extra reassurance for him and in hopes he’ll look less sad. I do wonder if he even remembers Pip is his wifebun though.

Do you have plans to combine your seniors? Or will they remain separate?

I often wonder what buns think/remember.

I agree, your buns probably take comfort in being in the same room. I think that’s why my buns seem so content unbonded. Stormy and Bindi come out for play-time together but for right now, anyways, they are living in separate, side by side condos. Bindi’s condo is in the middle with Stormy and Olivia on either side so every bun has a neighbor.

I dont have any experience with elder buns but I would still like to think that they remember them and think about them. Maybe they all kind of talk about their past loves to one another 🙂

It would be nice if they could talk to us once in a while.

The only thing I am certain Sammy remembers is where the pellets bag is, where the treats are, and when it’s bedtime and time for her nightly bed treat.

I really think they do remember. Their memories may not be as vivid as ours, but they most likely know their past loves.
