I bought the boys some new toys home from work – they’re thick, long pieces of card about 4 inches wides bent into right angles. Oxo wasn’t showing much interest so when he was sat next to them I wondered what would happen if I  chinned them. So I did. He reared back, looked at me, took two hops away and gave me the butt.

Do you think my accent was off?

haha Maybe it was just a little off.

I always get the “what the heck??!” look followed by the butt whenever I try to speak bunny. Really, how dare use to try to speak bunny? LOL

Actually, the chinning action is to let the bun being chinned know that he is owned and a subordinate. Which, as we all know, NO rabbit will allow a human to be it’s superior. I have found though that grooming yourself (miming cleaning/wiping your face and scratching your ears) really has them get curious.

Hmmm yes, I’ve actually tried hopping around before and grunting. I’ve actually licked Chacha’s forehead once before.

              The weird things we do.

I bought home some Luna Bars from the store and I let her smell the bars.

She chinned each one of them, but refused to chin my bottle of pink lemonade

Hmmm… do I need to use my feet to scratch my ears, or do you think my hands will do?

If your front paws are adequate to clean your ears, no need for the back ones.

Chinning is definitely a gesture that said “here’s a present – nope, now it’s mine.” You could put your head down, push the toy over to him with your nose and then leave your head down and distant from him to say it’s his, and you are a humble giver of gifts. I’d have given you the butt too.

Try wiggling your noses at your bunnies next time you lie down face to face. Sometimes, if you do it once, then twice, then stop, they will mimic you and do exactly the same back at you. It’s fun. Face grooming with your front paws is always entertaining for them to watch.

Haha! You’d better brush up on your “bunny”…lol, maybe you can take a night course!

Olivia always chins me so I tried chinning her and got “honked” at. I’m hers; not the other way around. Everything is hers.

LOL I try to speak “bunneh” all the time, but all I get is weird looks. Tell me when a course is, I’ll sign up with you!

In my defence, I did realise I was saying “mine!”, but if you pick something up of Oxo’s he usually snatches it back – I was curious as to what the response would be to chinning. Perhaps a bit mean, but I’m not going to make a habit of it. And I chinned the toy, not him. I like having my face attached to my skull

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to clean my ears…
