and since i love animals i dont wanna kill it…but i dont know of any humane traps..

and especially with a curious bun running around i dont wanna put snap traps (yuck) or poison….Plus i have a daughter who is gonna turn 1 next month (where did the time go?) and she puts everything in ehr mouth….

        Any ideas?

You can buy humane catch and release traps from any hardware store, walmart, online, etc. Get the small ones that are designed for mice, cause the larger ones meant for rats and such don’t trigger properly with the smaller weight.

drive to a wooded area very far away. but you might also want to find out where they got in. We had a window in our basement (those small ones) become partially unsealed and chipmunks resided in our basement without us knowing for months.

You want to drive about 5 miles away to be sure they won’t come back, anywhere grassy or wooded. Then search the house for any small holes they can get in like Frankie suggested and a cottonball soaked in mint oil placed at any entrance that you can’t seal up will deter them.

We tried this a few years ago and it worked ridiculously well (on the first night), and you don’t have to buy anything. I agree with the others, though – drop the mouse really far away from your house.

The tin cats work really good. You can get them at home depot, lowe’s or feed stores.

I do not support Peta, but they have methods of humane ways to keep mice away. “Alternatives to controlling rodent problems include natural repellents (peppermint oil is a safe and effective deterrent if replaced every few days), modifying areas to prevent access by rodents and smart mouse traps which if used correctly allows the person to safely relocate the animal with minimal fuss.” (from one of their sites).

Rats also hate mint plants and black pepper.

I’m a rat and mouse girl, so I look these sorts of things up. Haha.

Ive had a ton of hamsters growing up but was never “allowed” to get a mouse or rat…
Technically, I never had permission to get my first bun, but she was quickly fallen in love with…lol

I’d get a pet mouse or rat but i think my hubby has a problem with rodents….I just love how much their eyes stick out….so cute! lol

I grew up with hamsters… but rats and mice are completely different. They are a lot cleaner, don’t smell, and are easier to socialize. Rats tend to seek out human attention too, much like dogs. I like to call them “Mini Dogs” a lot because they remind me of doggies.

I technically wasn’t allowed to get my first rat, but I always wanted one so I just brought him home. Now I have 6. Haha. My dad grew up on farms, so he always viewed them as “Pests” and hated them. :/ He still doesnt care for them but tolerates them. He knows I love them so he kind of just puts up with them haha.
