I may have found the perfect type of brush for all that flying fur!

Little mister won’t-be-brushed has started his moult, and nothing flies like bunny fur. It’s flying everywhere whenever I brush him, ending up in my nose, clothing and even my food.

I’ve tried several brushes and combs, but he hates them and won’t sit still. I tried brushes with bristles, brushes with rounded pins, clothing brushes and combs with rounded pins, but they all seem to irritate him. Yesterday I was shopping at the Blokker, a Dutch chain of household stores, and I found a brush I’ve never seen before: a rubber brush that works on an electrostatic basis. Maybe these types are sold in other countries as well, these seem to work like a charm.

The brush becomes static while brushing, and this makes the fur stick to the brush. It comes off easily when you wipe it away, and you can also wash the brush with water. Breintje seems to love the feeling, he sits there grinding his teeth happily. And if he’s happy, I’m happy (and it also helps that there’s less fur in my tea! pthooeee!).

I use the exact same sort of thing Works a real treat. I find the fur mostly sticks to the brush, the rest goes flying away into Never Neverland! But yes, I love mine, and the bunnies love it too

It only seems to get to the top layer. I have brushes with pins, but he seems to hate it when they go deeply into his coat.

As an add on response to Luna’s comment. This is the only pic of my brush I could find (too lazy to take one right now). This is me using it on Bandit, you can’t see the main bristles (as they’re underneath), but they’re much like the one above, but mine also has stiffer bristles around the top edge that you can see, I use those to get the undercoat more, since the softer bristles don’t really dig in as much, more grab the loose fur.

It’s also handy to have a bowl of water around, if you get any loose clumps of fur you can dunk them in. Be sure to get those clumps under water completely:
rabbit hair floats on the surface and will still fly off and away if it isn’t completely soaked.
What kind of stuff is it anyway? Ultra light, ultra fluffy, floats down on every part of the house. It seems perfectly designed to make the most awful mess known to mankind.

That looks like it would work great on Sterling’s fur. He is a nightmare so anything to make grooming easier would be nice. I’m gonna have to do some internet sleuthing to find one.

I have this same problem! Loves to be rubbed and cuddled, hates that darn brush. I really need to try this brush! Henry’s hair is constantly on all of my clothing, letting the world know I have a rabbit xD.

Bramble doesn’t mind being brushed, but when Ron came to live with us I soon realised that not all buns actually enjoy or even tolerate brushing. Like you I tried everything and he either hated every single one of them or they just plain didn’t work. Now we have something kinda similar to you but its a glove you put on which is rubber just like your brush, he thinks he is getting petted when really I am getting all the loose hair! I don’t think it actually gets any more than the loose stuff though

In the US you can get a Zoom Groom it’s quite similar and works great on short haired breeds

I have to sneak the brush to my bun, who is still in molt. if he see it he gets mad and bites it. Its the only thing he ever gets mean with so I just try and hide it. If he don’t see it, he will tolerate the brushing even though you can tell he’s not thrilled!!!

In our home,we joke that the boys, especially Ash need a special bunny brushing tent where I can go to brush them and their fur can just stay in there.

Maybe a little wool teepee with an ionizer to reverse the negative air energy and get the hair to stick.

I wonder if sandboxes cut down on the amount of flying fur? They rub it off in there and maybe it does something to the static that makes their fur fly everywhere…

I don’t have room for one, yet.
