i have to give my new bunny ear/eye drops!?

Help! I just adopted a 1.5-2 year old spayed lop a little over a week ago and she has been very timid and she does not let me pick her up or pet her much. I totally get that its a new place and so she has to gain my trust but I’m really disappointed because she was starting to warm up to me and then i realized her eye had some discharge so I took her to the vet and she has an eye and ear infection. The vet flushed her tear ducts and gave me ear drops to give twice a day and eye drops to give her 3x a day. Because she doesn’t let me pick her up it has been really hard to give her the drops. She hops around my room and the only way I have been able to give her them is when she is cornered and I feel really bad. After I gave them to her she is now really scared of me and doesn’t trust me at all. I have to give the drops for 2 weeks and I feel like she hates me and is not going to trust me ever since her first  month with me she is being cornered and given drops. Also I need a better way to give her the drops I try to have her hop onto a towel and burrito wrap her but it never works. When I try to pick her up she kicks and squirms so much and gets away and then she is really scared so I have to leave her alone awhile. Ugh I need tips? Is my bunny gonna hate me forever?

I would sit on the floor on your knees, in a V. Put your bunny under you, so now she is between your legs, with your chest over top. This can feel very secure for your bunny, and you do not have to lift her up. Now pet her on the head until she’s calm (they love noses rubs) and put the drops in! I found this works very well and shouldn’t be traumatic

We just finished over a month of eye drops and then eye ointment with Moshi (along with vet checks every 10 days) and now are on two weeks of eye drops with Kieko so I feel your pain!

Kieko is great with eye drops. With her, its twice a day and only one eye. She lets us do her drops while she’s eating.
With her, its almost as if she knows the drops are good for her.

Moshi’s drops were a nightmare, and the ointment was even worse. He wanted no part of it. We tried everything, and ended up with the best results from him by having my hubby wait until Moshi was in a corner or waiting at the doorway for breakfast/dinner and just doing them fast. After about a month of drops/ointment, Moshi did hate us! I can’t blame him, if we weren’t putting drops or ointment in his eyes, the vet was staining and flushing them. We’ve been finished for about two weeks and he’s coming back around now for pets again. So, there is light at the end of the tunnel!

I agree with KK. Try “sitting” on her as she suggested. Much less stressful.
