I have a wedding coming up….

My cousin is getting married on June 4th.    I’m freaking out a bit.  I’m not in the wedding or anything, but you want to look nice for this kind of thing, you know.  I desperately need to get my hair cut and eyebrows waxed.  I am still not back to work although they are trying to get positions open for me.  So I still do not have any money of my own.  I don’t think my mom’s going to be able to help out any more this month financially.  She has bought me a dress since I haven’t lost any weight and she just gave me $40 for whatever but that went to gas.  So….that leaves my dad. 

I mentioned to him that I needed to get my hair cut really bad and he didn’t say anything.    So I find myself having to figure out a way to ask my dad – a man – if I can have some money to get my hair cut and eye brows waxed.  Because he only spends like $10 to get his hair cut.  He hasn’t lived with a woman in about 10 years.  I’m pretty sure my makeup and personal care stuff freaked him out a bit.   So now I am stumped on how to explain that I’ll need $30 to get my hair cut.  I don’t know if that’s how much it’ll cost but that’s what I paid in Peoria.  I am now outside of Peoria so the prices vary, but for this area, it’s generally around that much by the time you tip, etc. 

It’s just very interesting living with him again.  LOL   It’s just ackward cause I’m dependent on him for money and stuff right now.  If I was working, this wouldn’t even be an issue.

Are you interviewing for jobs as well? The only reason I ask is that you could frame it in a way that it might help you get a job – looking good (and the confidence that comes with it) can go a long way, and you want to look your best for interviews (and weddings, but the job thing might be easier to convince him of!). Also, look into whether there are any salon teaching schools near you – I know in Minneapolis we have an Aveda salon where the students do your hair under the supervision of an actual stylist, but it costs way less while still being a “trendy” cut.

Have you looked into sites like Groupon? You can keep sign up for their daily emails and see if a salon in your area has a special come up. That way you can say to your dad hey look I need to get this done and this place has a 75% off special!! yay!!

Try living social as well : ) I just bought coupons at this restaurant that is a $40 value for $20 dollars. There is a lot of salon deals too!
