Calf !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didnt want to jinx anything so I havent posted about him yet. I havent been on here alot this week because Ive been swamped with drama with this lil guy! oye! As some of you guys know I live and help run a small cattle ranch! My neighbor has a huge operation over 700 head of cattle anyway its the start of calving season! oh joy! My neighbor called (who is 90 yrs old and still runs his ranch) and said he had a distressed cow that was trying to give birth unfortunatly he found her too late and the calf was already gone and the mama wasnt going to make it either I hate that part of raising cattle it bothers me so much…. the next day he calls again different herd of cattle same problem this time it was a maiden cow (first calf) she was acting very odd before the birth so we knew it would be trouble when she started to calf well we were right she has the calf and she gave all she had left to have this calf and she was gone leaving a sweet baby behind It was so sweet my neighbor cares for his cows so much he held the mama and rubbed her head when she passed. He cant raise the calf because of his age and well I was the one that went to the calf while the others were helping the mama, and the calf bonded to me! I was the one that cleared his airway and helped with his first breath! So he bonded to me and now Im mama! lol  I have been struggling with him for these 3 days he is nursing from his bottle well but has swollen leg joints and we have to give him shots twice a day to fight the infection, he has been a very tough little fighter and is improving! he now moo’s for me and follows me around and drinks 3 quarts of milk a day! YAY! He felt so good today he jumped out of his pen twice to come find me! lol I found him at my front door with his lil slobbery mouth smooshed on my glass door wanting dinner!! and he did it again after putting him up so I know were on the rode to recovery but there is still a chance we could loose him from the infection so good vibes please!

Oh I need name ideas!! I was thinking Rebel because he has been such a fighter but ehh I would like to hear ideas from you guys!

This is 2days old and he is wearing his blankie lol You cant see it well but the green under his belly by his front leg is a wrap that is on 3 out of the 4 legs for the swollen joints

So are you keeping him as a pet then? I’ve never had to come up with a name for a cow before. I think Rebel is nice though.

lol Yes he will be the breeder bull for our cows if he pulls through!
