Hello everyone I need help! I got my first bunny 2 months ago he is very happy playful and very active so the person that gave me this bunny asked me if I wanted it his brother his 5 weeks already and is from the same mom and dad so I asked my husband and he told me I think it will be a good idea so that way the one that we have is not by himself for so many hours.
So I got the bunny today and they get along together with no problem until I saw the 2 months old bunny mounting the baby bunny ? I was like what do I do? Because I don’t have experience on that so now I don’t know if I should put them together in the same crib or not and if it’s ok for him to do that to him.
Thank you for any recommendations thank You

If the new bunny is 5 weeks old, it is really too young to be away from the mother. Is there any chance the person you got it from will have him back until he is at least 8 weeks old? Rabbits at 4-5 weeks are eating solid foods and may not be suckling anymore, but their gut is still developing protective gut flora that can impact their health for the rest of their life. They may eat their mums regular poop and cecal poop to help do this.

Your other rabbit is likely heading into puberty so the mounting is not likely to stop. It is really best to wait until rabbits are mature enough to be desexed before pairing them. Some mounting does happen even with desexed rabbits, but this is normal dominance behaviour.

Separate them or youll wake up one day with a bloody or dead bun soon… Hormonal rabbits cannot bond. Babies cannot create bonds.

You got your first bun 2 months ago and Mum bun has already had another litter that are now 5 weeks old? Wow, responsible breeder right there  And letting a 5 week old be away from its Mum is so so bad. I’d report the breeder first and foremost.

Secondly, read up on bonding. You can’t just shove two rabbits together.

Ive always liked this article about bonding: http://www.rabbitnetwork.org/education-resources/articles/rabbit-care-articles/love-match-a-guide-to-bonding-your-rabbits/

This is what the House Rabbit Society has on bonding also: http://rabbit.org/category/behavior/multiple-rabbits/

Some people have successfully bonded a baby rabbit to an neutered older rabbit, but then had the second rabbit desexed when it was the right age to do so. There is the risk of the bond breaking when the second rabbit was coming into puberty.
