I am just so excited…

I just had to tell someone and I know you guys/gals will understand.

 

Roscoe’s personality has changed so much this week.  I had really despaired that we would ever have any kind of affectionate relationship.  He was pretty skittish at first, to be expected, and then settled down and really was just……..indifferent.  He would let me pet him occasionally, but really only seemed to tolerate my touch just to get a treat.

 

NOT ANYMORE.  The last week or so, he’s gotten more and more affectionate.  Saturday morning, I let him out and sat down in my armchair to drink my coffee and wake up.  Much to my surprise, Roscoe jumped up in my lap – nose bumped my hand, rubbed his chin on my knee (marking me for the first time) and jumped down and binky’d all over the living room for the next half hour.  That night was the first time, I think, that he really stretched out and relaxed out lying around out in the living room – before that he would only relax inside his crate.

 

And each day has gotten better.  I have made a point to be down on the floor with him every evening and spend some one-on-one time with treats and petting, and when he’s stretched out and relaxed, I would crawl up to him and rub my nose and chin over his head and ears.  A couple of days ago, he finally returned the favor and began grooming me and licking my face and grooming my  hairline.

Now, as soon as I get down on the floor, he comes running over and licks/grooms my forehead for a bit, before going back to whatever he was doing before.  Tonight he jumped in my lap again, and let me hold him for a while and we had snuggle time for a while. 

 

Really makes it all worth it, doesn’t it?  What a wonderful bun he is!

That sounds great! So happy for you, they really do make it worth all the work and they do such silly things at times ^-^ Hope it keeps going well for you
