Hi There,
Im having a few issues posting so apoligies for the short introduction but this is now the 3rd time I have written it. Let me first of all introduce you to my beautiful Berry who is a year and a half old american silver fox cross (because of her lop ears). She is spayed and is a little diva but isincredible sweet and affectionate when its on her terms. I think she is the most beautiful rabbit I have ever seen but if you dont believe me have a goo at these:

Now Ninja is only 9 months old we have just neutered him and he has been through a world of change over the last 2 months. He is a netherland dwarf cross and he is a lovely bunny though he is a little aggressive due to all the change recently, but we are working on that. We dont have his personality down yet though he is dominant just like Berry (eek) and he loves lap cuddles and he is a water bunny. He is called Ninja for a reason and we dont have that many pics of him yet but I will add them as soon as he is comfortable with us taking pics.
At the moment we are trying to bond them (as you can see in the bonding thread) and these are theonly pics I have of the two fo them
This is the first time they met:

This is them when they got on initially:

At the moment we are having a few issues with them bonding which is how I came across this forum, but if anyone would like more info please feel free to post and I willreply I feel like I have done a terrible job of introducing these two but its very late where I am right now.
Welcome! Your buns are adorable! I have never seen a lop with coloring like Berry, thanks for the pics (and keep them coming!).
Hopefully everyone here will be helpful with the bonding issues, I have never bonded my bun so I can’t help there!
Thank you Molzy.
Berry is unusual there are a few people on the forum with rabbits that are her breed, she is really unusual because her ears are suppose to be upright. When we got her she had helicopter ears but the older he got they flopped down and stayed down. When she is frightened she can hold them upright for a short time, I will try and get a picture of that
she is suppose to look like this:

Hi! A big welcome to you from Canada!
Berry is indeed very beautiful! She’s so shiny and I just adore her ears. Your 2 buns will make a very cute pair.
oh my I have always wanted to visit Canada!!!
your buns are gorgeous with their blankies. at the moment I have both buns out and no scuffles so far. im hoping it lasts, its been a good bunny day so far
Welcome!
They both look really cute hope the bonding continues to go well
OH MY GOODNESS, MARTEN LOPS!!!!!!!!!
I HAVE A BLACK OTTER GIRL!!!!!
Oops, sorry. I really am in love with silver marten/black otter types of rabbits, hehe
Welcome ![]()
They are both gorgeous. I love Berry’s ears, how cute.
oh my I have always wanted to visit Canada!!
That’s funny because my dream is to tour Europe!!! I just love all the history!
lovechacha: OH MY until about two minutes ago I thought she was an american silver fox (as I was told thats what she was) Do you know if the silver fox and the silver martin are related breeds??????? My pictures are deceiving Berry is a huge rabbit at about 6 pounds/ 2.8 Kg and still growing. The power she has in her hind legs is astounding. There are only two breeders that I could find on the east coast that has this type of rabbit. I had to hunt them down because of her initial behavior problems, she is the strangest type of rabbit I have ever met and I think she is winning me over on the topic of reincarnation
Brittbritt: Thank you, her ears are the funniest thing about her, they give her every intention away that and her tail.
LittlePuffy tail: There is so much history and the castles are amazing. Ive always wanted to visit Canada for their conservation and breeding programs
Though I spy a little tan colour on Berry’s neck in that last picture. So is she truly a silver marten? Mmmmm….confusion reigns.
Welcome to you and your beautiful bunnies T.Bunny!
I had to hunt them down because of her initial behavior problems, she is the strangest type of rabbit I have ever met and I think she is winning me over on the topic of reincarnation
This has me intrigued. Looking forward to hearing more!
Hi jersey girl I am confused too I was always told she was an american silver fox though she is a crossbreed as i was told thats why they left her litter in the shop because she and her littermates were not true breeds. She does indeed look like the silver martin breed so possibly i was misinformed though when i asked to contact the breeder we were talking about her as a silver fox. I wanted to know her parents as she had quite a few problems when we got her. She was really really dominant and would not allow myself or my partner to show affection or sit beside each other on the couch and he is very much HER daddy not my partner.
as for the reincarnation thing…Berry seems like she lived her life before as a human……human royalty in fact. Her attitude is very much like she is in charge and I am her food and water servant. She is so quick to pick up things and I am positive she speaks human.
she does indeed have a tan neck which would agree with what I have just read about silver martins, I am completely open to being corrected here I have never had either breed. Edit :pics and I have just been told that the silver fox is an english term for a silver martin and is a different breed to the american silver fox so this could clear up the confusion. ![]()

Ninja on the other hand is a netherland dwarf / mini rex cross

My confusion comes from some breed names also being colouration names. Marten is one of those that is both. If you see pictures of member Lani’s rabbit Oreo, she is a netherland dwarf but sliver marten coloured. LoveChaCha’s rabbit ChaCha is netherland dwarf/black otter coloured. I think silver martens (colour) don;t have any tan and thought that would be true of the breed too. But like I said, I’m confused.
As to Berry’s behaviour – I don’t know if that has to do with her breed. I reckon that sounds like a bit of female diva-ship. ![]()
Hee Hee yes to the colouration names being confusing as well. sigh
I think it is the english / american terms that got me though and I think the tan bit is cause she is a crossbreed. Either way I wont be showing her and I think she is the most beautiful rabbit ive seen.
though if any of you want to figure it out let me know and ill post more pics
and she is such a diva
oh…I should have used the word “brown” instead of “tan” before. Because “Tan” is another of those confusing things. A pattern plus a breed. I know what you mean with the english and american terms also. In Australia we use most of the english terms and breed names but I’ve learnt to interchange the terms from being a member here.
I think she is the most beautiful rabbit ive seen
That’s what’s important. At the end of the day with our cross breed rabbits, we just have to let sleeping genes lie. ![]()
hee hee sleeping genes lie hee hee
well flopping out is what my buns do best ![]()
