How to treat house for fleas

Hi all! We noticed our bun had a bald spot about a week ago and when I checked there was a scab. I found a few fleas and tried using a comb to get out as much as I could. It was pretty late at night so I had to wait till the next morning to call our vet, to which we were recommended Advantage. It worked great and so far no fleas, but I’m wondering how to treat the home? We have hardwood floors with rugs, and he plays in the bedroom on the bed as well. I made sure to vacuum everything twice over and washed what I could. I read some sites that said I can try using Fleabusters but I’m wondering if it’s safe? I spoke to one of the techs at our vet and she recommended Zodiac, but I read somewhere that’s not safe (even though she said it was). This is the first time our bun has ever had fleas so not sure where it came from, but I definitely don’t want them back! Thanks for any help/suggestions!

We’re in the same boat- I’ve been told different things- I was told that you can sprinkle Diatomaceous Earth (food grade) on the floor & vacuum after 3 days. Another told me to do the same with table salt on the carpet (I would think that would be really hard on things though). I’m watching to see what answers you get back!

usually if you can move the bun to a different location, preferably with tiles (the bathroom?) you can treat the rugs with salt. the salt dries out larva and kills the cycle. the slick flooring is unsuitable for fleas and makes them potentially easier to spot. I would double and triple check your bun, your humans (fleas tend to go for ankles if there is not enough animal flesh around), and any other animals in the house. Let the salt sit for 24 hours, then vacuum up! after you are done with any blankets in the bathroom just wash in warm soapy water (And do this with any cloths used to deflea) I recommend checking your bun daily for another week or so.
