How to make bunny like interaction more?

She tolerates being held for about 2 seconds before wanting to jump out from my hands, but she does not however object to stroking her for a long time. How do I take it to the next level?

Also is it normal for a bunny that has only been with me for 2 days to stay at one place, not explore, seem kinda timid (even for a bunny) etc? She eats and drinks well.

How old is your rabbit, do you know? When I bought mine home she stayed in her hiding place for a long time, but eventually she came out to explore a little bit. If you lay near the cage (or where she is hiding), she will more than likely come out to explore, as rabbit’s are very nosey haha. She is probably still getting used to new surroundings.

With picking up, most rabbit’s do not enjoy being picked up. If she is wriggling a lot, it may be best to avoid picking her up unless important (trim nails, check general health ect.). Rabbit’s are very fragile so if you drop her it could cause a serious injury. Mine does not like being picked up, but I am working slowly so she will tolerate it for important issues. If she will let you hold her, try lifting her only slightly off the floor and then putting her down – to show her that you are not going to hurt her. It’s a slow process so you have to be patient, as I am discovering!!

I am new to rabbits too, this is just what I have learn off others. I’m sure people with more experience and knowledge will help soon

Typically, rabbits do not like to be held. While they may become tolerant of it, don’t expect them to be willingly

And yes, there are a ton of facebook and Instagram pics of people snuggling bunnies, I feel like those are exceptions to the rule and your bunny may not be one of them, but thats okay because it seems like she likes getting pet and stroked, which some bunnies don’t even allow

And your second question yes, if your bunny has not been in the environment a lot, they tend to take time to become acclimated. Bunnies are curious in nature, but also timid and reserved. So they will test boundaries and explore, but slowly on their own terms. Give it some time and pretty soon your bun will be exploring and getting into trouble. At that time you’ll probably want your bun to chill and not try to get into every small space and corner, lol

2 days is a very short time for a bunny to be in a new home. Some bunnies take weeks or longer to feel comfortable in a new home. It took my Olivia about a year to get used to me and our home, but that’s a pretty extreme case. I strongly suspect she was mistreated before I got her. Give bunny some time. She will explore when she is ready. Make sure she has an area where she can feel safe. Bunnies really love a little spot they can hide in if they feel scared like a cardboard box turned upside down with a door cut in it.
