I leave his cage open pretty much all the time even when I go to bed because he doesn’t go off carpet or blankets (we have a ton of wood flooring) so theres no risk of anything being chewed because everything on the carpet is safe or not corded.

Here’s my question though: I’d like to see him venture more onto the wood flooring but he seems… well, averse to it. If any blankets crumple up or stop at the wood flooring, its as if the wood flooring is lava and he wont go onto it. He even seems spooked when he’s on it by the sound of his own feet.

Is this just something most rabbits aren’t fond of, wood floors, or is there maybe something I can do to get him comfortable with it?  90% of our house is wood flooring, and Id love to provide him more areas to adventure and play but its kind of difficult.

Perhaps its time to invest in a monster-sized fleece blanket and put it all over the floor when he’s out, lmao. If anyone has some cheap/  reasonable suggestions or ideas, I’d love to hear them.

A lot of bunnies are averse to wood flooring because it’s uncomfortable and slippery which makes it hard for them to walk on. The same goes for tiles.

You could get a few cheap area rugs or mats and just put it down in various spots. If he doesn’t need to walk too far to get to another rug, he will most likely be more willing to explore the whole area. How long have you had him?

If you’ve had him for a short time, he’s probably still getting used to his surroundings.

I’ve had him a month and a half. Perhaps that may be what it is.

I would go ahead and put rugs or blankets down. At least to begin with. If he starts adventuring out more, you could try and cut back on the rugs if need be. A lot of bunnies don’t like wooden floors as they can’t get traction. My boy bun wouldn’t touch laminate flooring even with a blanket on it, had to use rugs!
