  So I have to leave for work tomorrow, the 4th of July at about noon and I won’t be home with Frankie until about 10pm! This will be Frankie’s first 4th of July with me and I’m so worried about how it will be at home with fireworks. I bought him a big wooden box so he can run inside it and hide without being seen and put it in a dark corner between the couch and the wall, but I don’t know how I can prepare the house for him to feel safe and comfortable while I’m gone. He is a free roaming bunny for half of the house and we have a room where we leave open during the day and put him closed in for bed time and I’m not sure if keeping him in there would be the best idea because it’s a small room with a window and everything echos louder in there.

  You could try leaving the TV/radio on so that there’s background noise and fireworks are less obvious? It depends if he’s happy and used to TV noises though.

  I agree that leaving some background noise e.g. TV or radio on for him will make any sudden loud noises less scary. He will probably be scared from the noises of the fireworks but he should be okay as long as he has some places he can hide where he feels safe and secure. Maybe leaving a jumper or something with your scent on it in his area may help him feel more secure too.

  Leave radio on (tv can have quiet moments with just images) and turn the volume UP as much as comfortably possible…. leave it on a music BOOM BOOM station to mask the firewok booms (rather than a chatty one)…. ideally’ you would have worked up to this gradually so he’d got used to it… but hey, go with that now with curtains / shutters closed as they have sensitive eyes too. If no curtains put up towels or boards….
  You should be ok.
