Ever since Eli had his first bout of stasis about 2.5/3 months ago I have noticed him being gassy a lot more. I don’t know if this is related to the stasis and he is still getting back to normal or if it is because I have become much more observant of his behavior and health (some might say probably obsessively observant). Anyway, probably every day or every other day at least, I can hear loud gas moving around in his belly. If I massage his belly I can hear/feel it moving around and sometimes it feels hard right below his rib cage where his stomach is. He never really seems to be in pain, he will still run around, eat, and poop even with this going on.
Before stasis, I didn’t even have gas meds on hand. Now he gets it all the time. It is due to my paranoia of him being bloated or getting sick but I don’t want to do more harm than good!
How often do your buns get simethicone?
I worry that if he gets to much his body will “forget” how to pass gas on its own? I don’t know if that’s a real thing that could happen…
I should add that he HATES the liquid gas meds. I have never seen him more angry than when I forced him to take some. He threw a bunny tantrum full of foot flicking, thumping, and furious head shaking. I give him the gas-x tablets broken up into small pieces and he will take it like it’s a treat! I don’t know if this makes a difference but my vet did not seem to think the tablets were bad…
