we’ve had Hocus Pocus for two weeks now, he’s 10 weeks old and slowly getting used to us humans, he no longer runs and hides when he sees or hears js I provide the great majority of his care and am able to hand feed and pet him, if I sit on the floor in his room he will come over and sniff and climb on me and occasionally sits and lets me pet him but he doesn’t like to be held or anything so other than sitting and watching him explore I don’t get much contact and bonding time with him. He typically has cage free time from 3pm until about 10pm – I open the door of his crate when I get home and close it when I go to bed and he’s in and out when he wants to be…I feel guilty though because most of that time no one is playing with him he’s just exploring and doing his thing while we are in the next room which is not bunny friendly there’s a gate up but he can see and hear us…is this normal? if not what do you guys do to play with and bond with your bun?

Whenever, I let Alfie out of his cage I consider it us “spending time together” even if we’re not necessarily playing. He’ll roam around the living room and sometimes come over for some cuddles and a petting session, but a lot of the time he’s just roaming around, doing his own thing and honestly most of the time he’s flopped over in a corner. I read somewhere that a bunny lying down a few feet away from you considers that spending time together. It’s hard to think of games to play with your bunny, they’re not like cats or dogs. One good way to spend time with him is to teach tricks! I use pellets as training treats and do little sessions every once in awhile, you can look up some videos online to see what kinds of things people teach their buns but Alfie has spin and stand down pretty solidly.

I am disabled so I am home the majority of the time. Blue and Bombur have their own room that they share with our caged off computers. I am with them roughly 5+ hours a day between laying on the floor with them, doing something on the computer, and/or cleaning up their space. With Badger, he has a large pen set up in the living room so we are with him every time we eat, watch tv, clean, or lay on the couch. I would say I spend roughly 5+ hours with him, as well.

I work full time, so generally I spend two hours in the morning with wick, then 4 hours in the evening. He is free roam 24/7 though, and he has another parent that’s home for a while whilst I’m gone so he has company pretty much at all hours he’s awake.

I am new here… I rescued BunBun from a family that was giving her up four months ago. She is about 1 year and maybe a month or two… I am disabled and am usually home much of the day but am always multitasking around our small home. She is typically out of her den (don’t like the cage word) from the time we get up until the time we go to bed… except for any time during the day when no one is home to supervise her. She is incredibly curious and has recently discovered that she is a rabbit with back legs made for jumping… which means my bunny proofing needs an upgrade. I agree that even if you are simply laying on the floor near your bun and letting him investigate, he is feeling your interaction. When we first got Bun we got her some bunny safe willow balls and wood blocks to play with. You can stack the blocks and watch him knock them down.

I’m with Sam about 2 hours in the morning, an hour at lunch and either 3-4 in the evening (if I go to stay at my boyfriend’s) or all night if I’m home, since he is free roam and lives in my bedroom ;P
Most of the time we’re doing our own thing & he just goes about his bunny business, though he comes to me for lots of kisses and cuddles too.
Ideally I’d be able to spend a bit more time at home with him (which is what makes me think about getting another rabbit in future) but he’s fairly independent, free roam, & sometimes my housemates will have him in their room when I’m not home in the evenings. So for now I consider it enough

I also feel that just “being there” with Lukie is spending time with him.I’ll also lay on the floor and he gives me nose bops and pulls at my pants legs and nips my toes, trying to figure out where my feet are Lol.

I got some toys where he has to figure out where treats are hidden and he has to figure out how to get them out. I got him a treat ball too, but he became frustrated after a couple rolls and begins to literally eat his way through the ball to reach the treats. So that’s that.

Luke is free roam and he spends most of his time I’m the living room or where ever I am as long as he’s feeling well. So I would say between 5-&14
Well I’m off to work now!!

My two bunnies aren’t getting as much time as I would like right now due to them being separated until they can be neutered/spayed and then bonded – so they need to be separated and come out one at a time until then.

So currently; I get home from work at 5pm – Let one out into the 10 foot by 8 foot play area for 2.5 hours and then let the other out for 2.5 hours and then I go to bed.
Once they are bonded they will both be out the full the time.
And then once I am sure they wont eat/ingest the carpet, my goal is let them be out 24/7

I try to sit on the floor in their big play land for 2 hours a night – One hour with each of them.
They mostly just ignore me, as I’ve only had them for a month – but they have started to give me a little “bump” with their nose as they hope past or flop over and lay near me.

Nutmeg, that’s exactly what I do! I get home at 6pm, give them dinner around 6:30pm, then they alternate who is out for the next 5 hours starting at 7pm. They each get a one hour session and a 90 minute session. I feel like this gives them the best amount to run around because if they’re out the full 2.5 hours at once, they usually loaf around for 90 minutes. xD

A&B – Exactly! Then they get excited to come back out again lol. Love that!
I’m sure they will be more lazy about it after they are fixed and bonded but I’m loving the energy for now haha.
