I started Harlow’s training Saturday night. She got out of her small pet store cage and has now taken in a huge corner of my room in her 4×2 grid cage that’s two grids high. She went from bedding to fleece that night, and when I got home the next day I saw that there were only about 10-15 poops outside the litter-box, and a lot inside it. No pee spots outside the litter box at all.

Sunday there were only 5 poops outside her box. I cleaned them up in the morning when I saw them, and there hasn’t been an accident since! I’m starting to believe that training her is going to be SO much easier that I thought. Could it be possible she is litter trained (cage wise) in three days? How long did it take your buns?

Is anyone in the process of training their babies?

Smokey wasn’t fully litter trained until I got her spayed when she was 9 months old. She would always use the same corner, but not really consistently in the litter box. Once she got spayed and recovered, it was like a switch flipped and she never pooped/peed outside her litter box, even when she was out for long periods of time.

Butterscotch was 9 months old and not neutered yet and he pretty much had litter training down. He was clumsy though so he often kicked poo out of the box

Oreo is almost 6 months old and pees mostly in the litter box but isn’t so great with pooing in the litter box. He is getting better with time but he is nowhere near perfect Smokey was definitely my easiest to litter train.

I had a litter box in Harlow’s pet-store cage when she was in it still, but she used it about as much as she used the bedding outside of it.
I guess making the switch to fleece was what flipped her switch like Smokey’s lol. Because even running around outside of her cage, she would go right back in to the cage to go potty. And usually I’m sweeping up a bunch of poops after floor time! lol.

She has not had a single pee accident since the switch which I’m very grateful for. Less fleece switching than expected
Last night I counted three poops outside the litter box but close to it so idk if they got out when she did or if she had little accidents. lol

My Yohio kind of litter-trained himself. He was quarantined in an outdoors hutch/run for a month before I brought him inside (he had to have his vaccinations etc), and I put a litter-box in the corner where I saw that he’d been pooping. I put a few droppings in the box and he got the message right away. When I moved him indoors he was used to using the box. There was one problem, he peed several feet up on the wall behind the litter-box. But he did it sitting in the box, so it wasn’t like his “fault”. The spraying stopped soon after his neuter though.

He’s never peed on my bed or on his vet beds or blankies. I don’t know if thats from having him neutered young. Bam was much more difficult to train, but then he was fully adult and intact when I got him.

Lol oh no. I’m glad the issue with spraying was fixed. Harlow Sprayed on my wall three times the first week I had her. But she hasn’t since that night thankfully! lol.

i couldn’t figure out what that darn smell was until i saw the streaks going down my wall. so gross lol
