Hello everybun!
This is kind of a silly question but…
Pickles has a bunch of hay in his cage that he just feeds on (or sleeps on), but he’s either eating it or sleeping on it, he never pees or poops on it because he does that all in his litterbox and he has good litterbox habits. He tends to eat the more grass-like pieces and a lot of the lighter green straw-like pieces end up as bedding for him to sleep on and he’ll never eat those.. so sometimes the hay would be out for 2 or 3 months.. do you think that’s still safe? or should i clean out all of the hay every other week or so? Every now and then I’ll refill the hay (probably every 2 or 3 days) because that’s how long it takes for him to get through most of it, but I was wondering, how long do you think the hay can stay out? Is it still safe for him to eat (if and when he decides to eat the straw-like pieces)?
