When Bunny got neutered, his vet told me to restrict activity for the next ten days. I kept him separated from Lilly to reduce any sexual urges, moved his cage into a different room, and set up an enclosure around it for playtime. Over the next few days I monitored his activity and expanded the play area accordingly until he didn’t need the enclosure anymore. I checked his incision everyday to make sure it wasn’t infected and did cage maintenance daily to ensure he wouldn’t lay in any pee or poop. I was told bunnies are pretty good at restricting their activity based off of how they’re feeling – they won’t bite off any more than they can chew (no pun intended).
With that being said, after the ten days there was no more spraying, territorial poops were extremely reduced, and after being reintroduced to Lilly the mounting was also reduced. I heard it has a lot to do with age also – older bunnies hormones die down faster than younger ones do. Speedy recovery to Moonpaw!
