Hey! With newyears approching, I was just wondering – how do your buns react to fireworks? Do they get really scared?

Do you have any tips for making it easier for them?

This is my first newyears with Bosse and I was just cuious as to what to expect

We’ve had fireworks here the last two nights with the local community agricultural show. They were very loud but as the buns are inside in the second bedroom it did not seem to bother them. They started a bit at first but there was no running or thumping they just snugged up next to their ice bottles (getting really hot here already and Summer is still a week away) and flopped. I really felt for any outside buns though, we had thunder and hail in the afternoon then the fireworks in the night. It must have been terrifying. Same for other pets that were left out, no doubt there will be a stack of ads for pets that ran off in terror and can’t be found today.

Ah, thats nice to hear, hope Bosse won’t be too bothered either
Yeah its so sad. We’ve been getting a lot of rain and low temps the last few days, and atm its below freezing. I’ve been thinking of all the buns outside just being cold..

I have no clue is Leopold would be afraid of fireworks since he can’t hear them anyway. Wooly doesn’t seem terribly bothered. He will twitch his ears, but there isn’t much more of a response than that. Keep in mind that the fireworks have never been right over the top of our house or anything.

Powder doesn’t care much, the really loud ones he’ll perk his ears up or might start a bit if he’s relaxing. Stickers HATES noises though, hates hates hates them. She’ll thump and thump and thump letting everyone know there is danger around and there is no calming her, she’s pretty high strung already though (any sudden moves on my part spooks her). The bird also has night frights from them, so I have a fun night on holidays… spend half my time between the scaredy bunny and the scaredy bird trying to make sure they don’t hurt themselves. :s
