How do I know if she likes us?

I know that sounds really weird, but I don’t know if my bunny likes us. We clean her cages and give her play time, she lets us pet her when she’s out and lets us lay next to her but seldom does she actually come up and nudge us, or even really acknowledge our exsistance. She does not like being handled, and when she is out she likes to go under the bed or in a box. 

She doesn’t really like any of the toys I bought for her, she plays with them sometimes, but much preffers empty water bottles.

Will she get more affectionate when she ages? Or is that just how bunnies are? :-D 

I’d say she’s still pretty young, though I don’t know for sure her age.

She’s really cute when she’s out, she hops around and binkies and stuff, but she confuses me.

BTW, She also likes to sleep in her litterbox, and pee and poo around it. Is there anyway to get her to use it properly?

this sounds like normal bunny behavior. bunnies are not really affectionate in a traditional sense… acceptance can be conveyed by just being in the same space and getting ignored. try putting hay in the ltterbox, and make sure to not have bedding anywhere else, just the box.

Hi Lola! Not all rabbits are very cuddly and crave the human touch. My two are just like you are describing and it is really in their nature to kind of be aloof. It takes a lot of time and patience to really bond with your rabbit, sepnd lots of quality time on the floor reading and ignoring them, and don’t be surprised when your rabbit gives you a nudge and starts to investigate you. I would be sure though to have a magazine, book or newspaper that it is O.K. for your bun to have a nibble of and not something you checked out from the public library. They kind of frown on bunny nibbled books.

As for toys, sometimes you need to experiment and I find that a lot of rabbits aren’t interested in the fancy toys that we buy but rather, try a plain brown paper bag, a natural wicker basket flipped over and large bunny-sized holes cut where the hand-hold are, have you tried a cardboard box or a phone book? Rabbits LOVE to chew, how about something willow that she can throw? There are many tips and trick Binky Bunny has put on this site. Check out BUNNY INFO, LITTERBOX TRAINING. Are there other soft surfaces for her to sleep on like a towel?

As for the litterbox, are you reaching your hand in her cage a lot? It could be a territorial thing, is there any her in her litterbox to encourage her to stay in there and go potty?

There was 😛 She tipped the stuff out so she could lay in there. She likes to rearrange her cage alot. I think she finally got it to where she likes it though? Lol
