How could I help Peanut be more confident?

Hi guys, 

As you know, I have two bunnies – Buttercup who is very confident and Peanut who is very timid. He is a very sweet but shy bunny and quite easily startled. I’ve learnt that he likes petting so long as I don’t approach the front of his face (I’m sure that’s a general rule for buns but Buttercup let’s me do anything) and I’ve learnt that he doesn’t like having two hands on him at once, one on either side of his body for example. Of course I respect this and am happy to oblige with what he prefers and avoid what he dislikes. Do you guys have any tips for helping his confidence? I don’t mind having a bunny that is on the timid side obviously but I’d like to help him not be so easily startled as that can’t be fun for him.

I think time and patience is all you need. They do learn to trust their human with time, little by little. It can take time though, but I’m not sure it’d be good to try and speed things up.

He has come so far in just the 2 months I’ve had him so I’m sure in another two months he’ll be even more confident. I just don’t want him to be fearful in his own home. I’m pretty quiet and calm but unfortunately my partner is a bit of a noisy oaf which doesn’t help little Peanut He works full time though so most of the time Peanut is surrounded by a calm person (me, lol) I’ll just keep being quiet and gentle with him and of course hand feeding him his pellets definitely helps!

My Bam was very fearful when I first got him. He sat under a table in the living-room practically all the time. He was an adult, and adult of course need longer time to learn new things, but he did learn. He’s such a cuddle-bun now =) He always comes running to check if someone perhaps has a leaf of lettuce for him or some nice ear rubs.

He sounds like a little sweetheart  I’m hoping Peanut will be comfortable enough to sit in my lap one day. Buttercup climbs all over me hehe

Give him time, Amelia is still a bit nervous around my husband. He’s big and loud so I totally understand. But over the weekend she hopped up on the couch next to him and flopped over for belly rubs! I don’t even get belly rubs from her
