I will add that she may not have “lied” about him being litter box trained. He could have been litter box trained at the old owner’s home, but not at yours.
A litter box trained rabbit is sort of conditional. A rabbit doesn’t naturally feel inclined to go where plastic boxes are placed randomly in a room, so him being in a new environment with new scents, he needs to learn what and where his new litter boxes are, then you need to teach him and reinforce that. He may not readily make the connection. It’s not uncommon for owners to mistake that litter box training is a permanent thing. For some rabbits, they’re great at carrying it over, but not all.
I’m actually moving in a month and know I need to begin litter box training for Wick in that space right away.
