I realise this is probably a bit weird but those of you that have read/followed my Peanut’s troubles will hopefully see where I’m coming from.

*A quick recap for those that don’t know – Peanut does sticky poops. Pretty much every day, he’ll do some sticky poops. Diet makes no difference. He’s had medication and it hasn’t helped and the vet feels that because it doesn’t seem to be affecting him (he’s doing plenty of normal poops, eats well and acts very much like himself) he doesn’t think treatment is necessary unless things progress*

So, for the last few months I have been obsessively poop observing. And if this is to be Peanut’s ‘normal’, I need to obviously draw a line and relax a little. I know the obvious answer is just: STOP LOOKING but it’s going to be a hard transition for me

Do you guys have any tips for me? Lol.

Also, if I stop obsessing and fishing out sticky ones (?), do you have any tips for ensuring the poops don’t stick to bunny’s fur?

I think poop obsession is relatively normal for owners who own a rabbit who has had issues or is known to have issues. I myself have been fixated on how large and healthy Wick’s poop has looked for the past week. Gives me joy, so no, you’re not completely off the rails weird. There’s a great sense of relief, knowing things are going as expected.

For poop stuck on fur, I actually check Wick once a day by doing a slight curl up that doesn’t trance him, but gives me a good look at that region.

You could designate ONE time of day when you look at his poos, and limit yourself to that – and maybe just manually examine only the one poop at the very top of the pile. Chances are you’ll have more days when the king of the hill is a normal poop, rather than a sticky one. Which should provide a bit of peace of mind.

Bombur’s EC gives him very similar issues with his poops and GI tract if I’m not super strict. So I check his poops twice a day, once when I wake up around 5:30 and then when I get home from work around 6:30.

Thanks guys. I’ve really tried to limit myself – the last couple of days, I’ve just been glancing quickly at the poops rather than rifling through (?) and honestly it’s such a weight off my shoulders. Especially late at night . I can actually relax a little! Only problem is when there are poops on the floor – that they’ve flung out when leaping out the trays – caught me off guard yesterday as it was a sticky one and I wasn’t expecting it. Now every time I have to pick a poop up off the floor it’s like Russian roulette ?

That’s good.  I was going to suggest a technique that may have you feeling a bit silly, but then, I guess checking through poop has you feeling a bit that way anyway!

The strays that feel a bit sticky, are they the normal looking ones with a bit of residue that you described in your other thread?  Did you ever see territorial poops from the buns when they were younger? They have a bit of odor but essentially look like regular poop that’s has a light spray of cooking oil. Lol. Sorry, that the best way I can describe it. They can smell a bit like corn chips too.

I don’t mind feeling silly. I think that ship has sailed LOL. It amuses me to think that to my bunnies I am literally a turd burglar ??

Yeah, they’re the normal looking ones with sticky residue. I don’t think they’re territorial as it’s only 1 or 2 right by the trays so I assume it’s where they’ve jumped out (the buns, not the poos) but that’s something to keep in mind! Peanut did do some territorial poops when we first moved here and they had more of an onion type smell. Speaking of territorial behaviour, he’d peed on the rug this morning. He does this every now and then to keep me on edge ? Little terror.

He’s done a mucous one today. I only know because it was on the floor lol.

It wasn’t Peanut that peed on the rug I don’t think. I have just seen another pee right where Buttercup had been loafed, felt her back end and she was soaked
