        Hi,
I adopted a baby rabbit that is supposedly half Flemish giant and half French lop. She was only 6 weeks when I got her and tiny, under 7 ounces. She is 10 weeks old now and 2 lbs. Her ears were upright and now have started to lop. How big do you think she will get? She is small considering her parents. The litter of 5 were all small like that. Has anybody had a small rabbit that ended up getting quite big?

Babies shouldn’t be taken away from there parents till they are 8 weeks old.

Flemish giants can get to be very big, they need lots of space. I’d say she’s still going to grow a lot.

          How is her diet like?

To be completely honest it sounds like the seller lied to you. 7oz for a baby with those parents it’s only a few weeks old, not 6 weeks old. At 6 weeks she should’ve been closer to 2 pounds. So either the seller lied about the breeds of the parents or lied about how old the bunny was. I have holland lops and at 8 weeks they were both around 2 pounds. If she’s truly a mix of those bigger breeds she’ll end up being somewhere around 8-12 pounds maybe bigger. It’s hard to really say.

I’d take her to a bunny savvy vet ASAP to determine her true age and make sure she’s healthy. She sounds like she was way too young to be taken away from her mom.

She eats lots of oxbow young rabbit pellets and orchard grass and Timothy hay. I know they are supposed to be with their moms longer. The lady I got her from seemed to not be too knowledgeable. She was feeding the babies wheat bread and grass and vegetables and fruit. I’m trying to upload a picture, but it won’t work, just puts in the file location.

She has been to the vet. She is healthy . He doesn’t think she will get very big. He didn’t say anything about her age .

I asked the lady to confirm her birthdate, June 8, and I saw pics of the mom, a French lop. She doesn’t own the dad but said he is a Sandy Flemish giant.

I also saw pics of them when they were a couple of weeks old, all laying together, with their mom and then an updated picture a couple weeks after that.

Yup, It does seem a bit strange at how small she is. If the breeder was feeding bread, she wasn’t very knowledgeable.

I know, that’s why I keep questioning everything she said. But at least the bunny seems happy and healthy now. She is a very sweet little girl. I did want a big bunny, though.

If all the 5 kits were this size, then she’s most likely not a runt. I’m not too well versed with breeds, but she’s definitely the adorable kind! The helicopter ears <3
