I need some help with housing. My bunny currently lives in a hutch in my basement and one of my parents think it’s almost time to move her outside. Now I know we aren’t allowed to talk about intentional breeding but this is not anything about the breeding and more about their housing. I’ve seen many breeders keep their bunnies in a building outside, or some smaller breeders in a large shed. I also saw on YouTube a girl who had her bunnies in a “playhouse” which was honestly a shed with a horse door and windows. Im not sure if I should get one for her. I know they can be very expensive but I will soon be allowed to babysit and I do live in a pretty wealthy neighborhood so I would get good pay and I can also do general chores for my dad and neighbors. I also have the option of a DIY shed but that would take about 2 months after she has been moved outside. Sorry if this was super confusing I have to say my best class is not Language Arts and I’m often told by teachers I’m all over the place. So pretty much when you have read this,

I’d honestly try to keep the bun inside where it is or rabbit-proof your room and let them live in there. Outdoors will be tricky in the winter months with keeping your bun warm, or in the summer months with keeping your bun cool enough. I would definitely not go with anything you see breeders do– I don’t think they’re bad people or bad bunny owners, but I know a good breeder from a bad breeder, and most of the not-so-great ones house their buns in outside hutches with wire flooring. Generally speaking, the best breeders keep their buns indoors. Just because someone breeds buns doesn’t mean they know how to take care of a bun.
Plus, if your bun is outdoors, it’s not as likely you’ll go visit the bun for the hours you should every day, especially when it’s snowing and whatnot.
If you absolutely have to move the bun outside, a large shed is a good idea, but make sure you still get them outside-of-she’s time for a few hours every day, and in the summer put a fan in there, and make sure the shed has plenty of insulation for the winter.

I wouldn’t keep your bun in an outdoor hutch, though. There’d be less space, more exposure to harsh weather year-round, and bunnies can actually die from heart attacks if they get too scared from a neighborhood cat or bird or dog or raccoon scaring them whilst they’re in an outdoor hutch

Her hutch is 16 square feet so it’s large, I think they are still going to move her outside but right now she is in my room in a box after breaking her leg and foot
