Hi,  I am new to binkybunny although I always have a peek at posts.

Id like some advise please.  I have 2 bonded house rabbits, they have their own bedroom upstairs with various toys, castles etc etc (very spoilt buns), they are in there all day when we’re at work and at night time whilst we’re asleep (or trying to…noisy buns), they come downstairs at night and weekends when we’re in, they mainly lie there next to each other and occasionally jump onto my sofa when they hear me rustling (thinking its kale).  But i lost my princess (dog) a year ago this month but I feel i am ready to get another one and my fiance wants one too.  I would never buy a dog from a breeder, I will always rescue, but am thinking about getting a rescue pup 4-7 months old.  Do you think, with a lot of commitment and training, that they could get on? Or has anyone ever done this before?  I will NEVER leave them alone unsupervised because accidents happen and the buns will be worse off.

I know everyone has a different opinions but I’d like to know of people that have successfully done this, how long it took, the best method to approach it, how long were the buns out for etc etc.  As much detail as possible would be gratefully appreciated.

        Thanks in advance

Depends on the temperament of all animals involved. My old dog, and rabbits got along fine. They were never left together unsupervised, and they interacted through an xpen, so if something went wrong, no one would get hurt. It would probably be ok as long as they are supervised, and maybe it would be best if it was through a gate of some sort, but it totally depends on temperament. My previous buns were very calm, and my dog was also very calm.

I don’t think it would be a good idea if it is a dog that is used to get rid of pests, or a hunting dog, but who knows? The dog could be very calm with them.

There are quite a few books and websites that teach you how to introduce rabbits to other house pets as well.
