Hi
I have just joined today after coming across this site a few times over the last few years. My two buns and I live in rural Australia and we try and be as self sufficient as we can.
I have a male and female who are currently molting all over my house. They were both adopted from homes that could no longer care for them. The female came from an elderly relative – she can be a feisty princess (but never nasty). She was my first bun and a lone bun for the first 2 years with me, she made sure I knew VERY quickly that she is not a cage bunny and deserves to live indoors with me – she would have slept with me if I wasn’t so scared of squashing her! I tried for a long time to find her a friend from rescues but was unsuccessful in this, so I put an advertisement up on facebook for a male bun. Within 2 days a family offered me a cute desexed male. He is still new to the family having only joined us in August of last year. He came from a loving family that had a large outdoor hutch for him, unfortunately their new puppy had learned to open his cage and the family had come home to the dogs chasing the rabbit around the yard more than once. The male has a few health issues, and my vet and I suspect he is older than I was told, but that is ok, he is doing well here. He had his front teeth removed before I got him – but the vets did a very dodgy job on this and he has ongoing issues with it. I have pain meds on hand at all times if he needs them but he has been going really well lately. I have never ever seen a bunny flop as much as he does. He doesnt really have the co-ordination to binky, so I guess he flops when he is happy.
They are bonded now and adore each other, 2 buns has just doubled the love and they are so cute to watch together. I am so lucky to have them!
I look forward to house rabbit discussion and more game ideas. Is there a section for home grown greens?
