My poor baby started holding up his front right paw last night and licking at it like it’s injured. He was setting it down and putting a good amount of weight on it while using his litter box and eating, but seems to keep it up most of the time. It honestly looks completely normal. And the last few days he didn’t appear to injure himself. I have been sick with the flu, so unfortunately he had to spend a good deal of the last few days in his crate, as I haven’t felt like chasing after him. I have no idea how he could have possibly injured himself in there. And even when he was out of his crate, there were no accidents. Just hoping around on the floor. He didn’t fall, and I didn’t drop or step on him. The biggest leap he’s made was the 4 inch edge of his litter box
.
The only thing I can think of him doing possibly was digging and scratching at his bed. He did just get his nail cut last week, and maybe he caught the edge of one on the bed while scratching, possible injuring a nail? Would that cause him to elevate his paw? I didn’t notice anything strange about his nails, but I may not have looked close enough. The vet unfortunately can’t see him today, but the groomer I get his nails cut at agreed to take a look at his paw this evening, so maybe she will see something I’m missing? I’m so nervous, especially because he has trouble with his back foot on the same side. A break/fracture healed incorrectly before I adopted him, and while he can still get around quite well, he really needs the use of this front paw. Any advice or experience would be much appreciated!
