Hodari works very hard. I’m so proud of her, so I wanted to share with you the results of her work. ![]()
These pics are of today’s “excavation” project. She likes to dig “tunnels” behind some of the objects in her room; in this case it was behind the buckets I use for her dirty and clean litter. I placed some paper bags, a couple of hand towels, some packing paper from Binky Bunny, and some of her grass mats and toys between the dresser and the buckets to simulate dirt, rocks, and other debris. She had a ball.
It’s a little messy, but what the hay!

The end!
Time to rest.
Have your bunnies had similar projects? If so, please share the details.
Just edited this to fix my typos. Twice. ![]()
haha what a happy bun! Mine made me move anything that was against the wall. Today there will be something else that I have to move to make your highness happy.
Awh! So cute <3 lol. What a darling bun!
Awhhhhh what an adorable little hard worker! She must be so proud. Bahaha “what the hay!”
I love their projects! Good job, Hodari!
That’s great that you made one for her to work on.
Years ago I stuffed a down comforter under my couch to stop Spockie from hiding under it. Well, he started to dig a tunnel. And dig. and dig. and dig.
He pushed a squished spot along the length of the middle and came out the other side, but it took him weeks. He went back to it faithfully every day.
Bunnies always remember projects they start and they go back routinely.
It’s fun to watch her work, especially when she gets a little frustrated and starts throwing things.
She does keep going back to the buckets, looking to dig some more. I guess I’ll have to keep a stock of paper bags and packing paper from now on so she can make more messes.
I tried making her a diggy box several times, but she wouldn’t play in them. She’s more of a dig the carpet kind of girl. ![]()
Spockie must’ve been elated to have finally made it to the end of his tunnel. I may try that next. Hodari would love it. I have to make sure she can’t tear a hole in the fabric, though, because she’s bad about eating stuff she shouldn’t.
She’s so adorable! I love her color – it looks so silvery. (I kind of wonder if she’s the same color as Hannah, though Hannah is a broken pattern so it’s not as easy to see the variation in her color)
They do love to make messes, don’t they?
A busy bunny is a happy bunny! Glad you gave Hodari some projects to accomplish, she looks like she’s enjoying herself, busily. She’s cute, too~
Sammykins had fun maneuvering through a pile of sheets (I posted a video of it in the Lounge recently) and they don’t have stuffing. Hodari can tear the sheets, but you won’t be in danger of anything getting swallowed.
She’s definitely happiest when she has a job to do; yes, especially if it makes a big mess. Lol. I am just so happy to see her playing again; with the e. cuniculi, I didn’t know how soon she’d improve or how much. It was hard watching her try to play and then always falling over. Thanks for the compliments.
Elrohwen, I do think she’s similar in color to Hannah. She keeps having slight color changes, though. Periodically the hair on her back gets darker and changes pattern slightly, as does the hair on her face. I don’t really know why, but I like seeing what will happen next!
RabbitPam, I just noticed your post. Thank you for the suggestion. Hodari does play with sheets sometimes, and other fabrics with a fine weave; I’ve never actually piled them up for her though. I will look for the video of Sammy. The video of her with the Bunny Surprise bag was so cute. ![]()
lolz Destructo bun works overtime. Adorable.
I’ve been told (by a rabbit show judge who knows her stuff) that Hannah is a siamese sable chinchilla. She told me that based on a pic but seemed sure. I’ve looked for other rabbits with that color online but I don’t think it’s super common (or most people don’t know what it’s called so it’s hard to google search for it). It’s such an interesting color – silvery, but with a beige undercoat sort of. I’m pretty bad at identifying the agouti colors unless it’s standard chinchilla or chestnut, but Hodari and Hannah look similar to me.
I will have to post some more pics of her so you can see her coloring a little better, and we can compare her with Hannah. Because she’s a year old, I’ve been surprised that she is still getting these darker bands in her coat periodically; and then they just get assimilated with the rest of her hair so that you don’t notice them any more. Her back does look silvery.
She’s definitely a destructo bun!
I’m just glad I found some paper products she likes to play with but not eat!
ROFL!!!! The end product is priceless! She is thorough.
Yeah, Huckleberry feels that the floor under the couch is unnecessary. We argue about that a lot….
Bunny people are the only people who would understand that when it comes to redecorating, rabbits really will FIGHT for their artistic liberties.
Gosh, this just makes me laugh. My place looks like a mess due to all the cardboard, papers, toys, hay, boxes, etc. for the buns, but I tolerate it just fine because it is all for my babies. It’s funny how we overlook the messiness due to our buns.
Lol. Yeah, she’s my sweet baby girl. Her messes don’t bother me as long as she’s happy! DH and I just step around all the toys during the day and pile it all into a corner at night so we don’t trip over anything if one of us has to get up to go to the bathroom.
And I always wear slippers so I don’t get stabbed by all the hay.
I don’t want to hijack your post, but here’s a link to my YouTube video for you to watch:
She’s cute – I love that she is so active.
She is so cute I love her. I love your curtains. I would be afraid that she would chew them!! Blossom just started to pick things up and move them. When I go to bed at night her toys are in one spot and then the morning they are in another!! She just started to dig at the rug so I got a b unch of toys and put them on that spot to stop her. Keep the Pictures comming. I always love seeing pictures of her!!
RabbitPam: That’s hilarious.
Sammy kept popping out where I didn’t expect her to. She really likes your slippers, doesn’t she? In another video, or maybe it was some pictures, I’m sorry I don’t remember which, wasn’t she also playing with your slippers? She is so cute.
Mindy:
Thanks for the compliments. Hodari does dig at the curtains and bite them sometimes. We usually drape them over an open dresser drawer, or across the buckets, or something during the day. As long as they are pretty much out of her way she won’t usually be tempted by them. It’s cute when she tries to push them aside with her nose, though, and they won’t stay put; she gets a little mad.
I hope Blossom gets distracted by her toys being on the rug so she will leave it alone. Hodari is bad about digging the carpet and pulling at the fibers with her teeth, so I am always supervising and trying to come up with fun diversions for her.
Sarita: Thanks. She’s been playing a lot more now that she’s feeling better. She goes to the vet again on Feb. 7th for her second blood test. She’s still a little dizzy, so we’ll see… As long as she can play like this I am happy! Big binkies aren’t necessary.
