I joined the forum to ask some questions about bonding my two rabbits.

My rabbits are Snowball, a 5 year old Californian who is about 15 lbs. She is chunky but doesn’t seem to eat much. I got her when she was about 9 months old as a partner for my existing rabbit, Jasper (RIP).  Snowball was an escaped/abandoned Easter present; a friend found her on Easter Sunday. He kept her for his grand kids for several months before giving her to me.

After I had the two altered, they became fast friends and lived together until Jasper recently died at 12+ years old. I got Jasper in 2010 from a friend who had him for 6 years. She got him as a free bunny from Craigslist. He was an adult when she got him. Who knows how old he actually was. He was a good bun and loved everything and everybody except dogs. The vet thought Jasper was a mix of chinchilla rabbit and lionhead. He was about 6 lbs. He had the softest fur of any animal ever.

My new rabbit is Basil, a 3-4 lb adult male. He’s dark grey with a white freckled chest. No idea on his breed. He loves people and basil (the herb).

I also have Clydesdale horses (2), a dog, a chinchilla, a parrot, parakeets (2), a turtle, land hermit crabs (10+), a corn snake, gerbils (2), guinea pigs (6), two fish tanks, and isopods (25-ish)!

Hello and welcome to Binky Bunny! Did you have problems when you bonded Snowball and Jasper? Or was your question about the size difference in Snowball and Basil? That shouldn’t make any difference in bonding. I have seen large and small rabbits bonded before, with no problem. As long as Basil is neutered and has had 2 – 4 weeks to recover and make sure the hormones have been flushed out, you should be able to start the bonding.

Here are 2 good articles on bonding:

I have always had good success using an x-pen to bond rabbits. I can get in their with them, and so can my husband, if we need to referee. Even if the room itself isn’t a neutral place (both have been in it), the x-pen will be a new, neutral place to them.

Big Welcome to you!!! Would love to see pics of your bunnies!

You certainly must be a busy pet parent! I adore Clydes! I have a Morgan.

                  Thanks for the welcome!

I’ll respond properly later. I’ll also attach some pictures if someone can tell me how.

First you need to resize the picture, so it’s small enough to be able to upload. (You can check the maximum, it’ll tell you if it’s too big)

Then you click on the dark green button that says “Reply”, the quick reply doesn’t work for uploading pictures.

Now towards the bottom of your page there will be a bar that says “Attachments”. Click on it.

Now click “Choose File”. It’ll bring you to the pictures you have on your desktop/laptop. I don’t think it allows you to upload from phones.

Once you choose your picture you’ll click upload.

Then you can click “Create Thumbnail” or “Insert Image”. I don’t think it really matters, but if you have doubts just click Insert Image.

Your photo should show up in your post like this:

Now you could also Copy and paste a picture (you can’t paste stuff in the quick reply though, so you’d need to go to full on reply), or paste a link to a photo you have uploaded somewhere else, say photobucket or Instagram.

                    Hope this helped!
