I recently bought a 20lb box of small pet select Timothy hay. I have been using them for quite some time, but this box seemed more dry to me. I have had it a week or so and ever since feeding my bunnies this hay my hands are itching and I am getting a few hives on them. I am guessing it is from the hay? I did not see any bugs in it. I am allergic to hay and have been on full time allergy meds, but this has never happened before. Any thoughts? I am afraid to continue using it.

It could be that batch is especially potent in the pollens and dust from where they harvest the hay. I would recommend trying another brand in the future to see if you find any relief. Until then,I’d use gloves to interact with it.

Ok, I really do think it’s the batch. I also like Katee Timothy hay, so may stick with them. But I agree, I will try gloves and I have a medical mask I can use to. Since it’s bothering me everywhere. I noticed my neck itching a little too.
