My 10-year-old mini Rex has developed severe arthritis in his hind legs and can no longer use them. He drags himself by his front legs. He’s on metacam for pain and inflammation, and while it helped in the early stages of this problem, it’s not really working anymore. I’m considering a wheelchair for him, but not sure if that will work since he’s in a exercise pen and I’m afraid the wheels will get caught on things. Also, he spends most of his time lying on his side in his urine. I have pee pads in his pen, and I give him frequent butt baths, but it’s hard to see him like this. He still enjoys treats and chewing on his wicker house. Any advice and support would be much appreciated.

Your story makes me recall: http://www.instagram.com/agirlnamedcharles/

          — It’s a great example of, if one is dedicated and the rabbit is in good spirits, hind end paralysis is not the end of the world. You may need to make better accommodations if you decide on a wheel chair. Is a larger free roam space not possible?
