Hello people of this great rabbit community!
This is my first time introducing myself in this community!
This is Afroditi (Aphroditi or Αφροδιτ&eta, a Greek name representing a Greek god in 500 BC years and so on. Afroditi is a female rabbit! She is 1.5 year old and I am still not sure when she born so we have yet to decide her birthday date.
Now, the important thing is, I have not adopted her when she was “kid”! My best friend adopted her at very early age, around.. 8 month old and that was my first time checking out the rabbit. One year passes, it’s July and my best friend decided to give out his rabbit because his parents’expenses were HIGHER than the income because he has a dog and a cat too.
We decided to give it a go and decided to adopt her, making her our first, first, first pet my family ever had. The bonding was very slow and Afroditi was scared to death after moving to a new environment, our house. She had no clue who we were and I can say, she was very scared even when being pet. We frequently placed the cage at house’ balcony for more air for her to relax and we placed her in a kitchen’s corner when we had to go sleep. She was really alone there BUT she had A/C to get cooled off from hot temperature.
Several days pass, I saw her freaking out in her cage, moving sides by sides in her cage as if she was trying to escape from something. I immediately moved her inside the house and stay by my side. There, she “obtained” permanent indoor house stay and I insisted to my parents to let her stay inside the house not on balconies. One day I decided to set her free for the first time, I simply placed her in my room and opened the cage door and waited for her to come out. She did not get out. She did not get out until 3 days later where she got out and hid in a corner! She simply stood there, staring and would do nothing. I didnt confront her and went to mind my own bussiness and she would occassionally get back in her cage again and so on.
Few days pass and she decided to investigate my room much much more. She checked the bed, the chairs, the corners of the room, the desks and a lot more. It required her few days to get used to the room and investigate one by one. Suddenly she decided to escape from my room too!
It was fun. But due to my house being full of electronic cords, I would rarely let her roam around the house freely even with supervision. So she would be restricted to my room only and sometimes to the corner only for many reasons.
Few fun months pass and she suddenly and for unknown causes managed to get one of her teeth break out. We got her to vet immediately and had her teeth removed which was sad. But nevertheless, she was healthy and happy the day after the surgery!
And now? A floppy, energitic, sometimes lazy and playful rabbit we got. She would often lay in the cage or out of the cage for some reasons.
Here the pictures come!
That’s all! But I am still curious what’s her breed. We also do not visit vet that often, we think 2-3 times a year visits to vet would be fine unless an emergency arises.
