I took Luna to the vet yesterday for a physical exam and to look at a small mole-looking bump on the outside of her upper lip (vet thinks it is a wart-like skin growth but it hasn’t grown the past few weeks and is too small to collect cells with a needle so vet advised to just keep an eye on it). Anyway, to my surprise when the vet looked in Luna’s ears with her scope, she cleaned out some dark yellowish waxy buildup. It turns out she has an ear infection and is currently on ear drops (Tresaderm).
I know buns hide when they are sick, but I am still shocked at how there were absolutely NO signs. When Luna had stasis I knew, and when she had an upper respiratory infection I knew, but this ear infection totally blindsided me. She’s been doing everything normal; no ear itching, head shaking, or tilting. I check her ears occasionally too, but maybe I could have seen the waxy buildup if I had used a light and looked deeper into her ears than I usually do
. I just hope we caught it early, but it worries me that there was stuff in both of her ears. Are there any other signs/symptoms that I might have overlooked?
