Hi guys! Recently we went to a Flea Market here in West Palm Beach, FL without any intention of going to the animal area but as we passed by we saw a bunch of little young bunnies (no idea about age, my guess is around 3 weeks more or less) and they were all in a medium sized caged all clustered and overcrowded so due to budgetary reasons I tried to save at least 1 and bought one, I know it’s bad supporting these types of sale but if left the bunny may have died of heat stroke (Florida weather is horrible).

        • Rabbit Name: Mochi ;3
        • Rabbit Age: Estimate around 3 weeks more or less since he’s from the local flea market
        • Spayed/Neut/: No
        • Persona: He seems very timid and shy though would occasionally sniff my hand if I put it in his cage he is quite curious as well NEVER MIND. He’s very hyper though sometimes he’s calm e.e

-And I am new to rabbits

Also idk if i can put it here but:

Regarding his behavior, since he’s from a flea market, he sometimes roughly scratches the back of his ear and his head dips and seems like he bits his rear and then he jerks and jumps I’m afraid he might have fleas or ticks/mites.

We also don’t have any Timothy hay as of right now nor any goats milk (idk what milk to feed the little bun) :C

I whole heartedly accept any criticism or tips or whatever ashkjgkg

UPDATED IMAGES (i need to put a mat for comfy reasons but idk which one is safe halp )

He likes a good ol’ scratch ;3

        his curious butt

        just stretching ;3

his current place and it looks like this due to me being unprepared T^T

        I still need

-hay , comfy stuff , a litter box

                Hi!
When I upload pics, I upload them from my PC by clicking edit, then attachments, upload and instert image, then post again. The pics have to be less than 500 kB so you may have to make them smaller before uploading them.

Please check the “Technical stuff” sub-forum for other info on uploading pics.

I’ve alerted the other Leaders on your behalf, so if you’re still experiencing problems I’m sure one of them will come to the rescue. We do like bunny pics a lot here!

I finally figured it out ^^ Thank you so much though.

Apparently it has to be the html code for websites and blogs and I kept uploading the codes for forums and message boards lol. My mistake

                      Uploaded the pictures

                        He’s so cute!

There are a few things to consider about his living arrangements. First of all, wire bottom cages are not god for bunny feets, they can get sore hocks because they don’t have pads like many other small animals. What they have to protect their feet is fur, and thus you don’t want the extra wear on the fur that wire bottom cages cause. You can put something on top of the wire bottom, preferably sth that gives him a grip (they hate slippery surfaces).

Then he should have a hidey-house to withdraw to if he feels he wants to. An upside down cardboard box with to “doors” cut out will do great.

And you need a litter-box, beacuse you’ll want to start litter-box training asap. This you do by putting some poop and something he’s peed on in the litterbox. If you see him pee outside the box, you gently put him in the litter-box. The litter-box can be filled with f ex wood-stove pellets (plain, no accelerators) or torn up newspaper, do not use cat litter.

Lots of info in this post, I hope you don’t get info-overload!

We’re looking forward to reading more about you and your bunny!

Yeah I just recently knew abut the wired cages and I was thinking of putting cloth or cardboard but I’m afraid that he might chip it away and eat it and might disrupt his tummy

I actually now have a litter box  as I went late at night to go to the nearest pet store to get hay @_@ and i dont think cardboard boxes can fit in this tiny little cage sadly but I was thinking of getting a tunnel ;(

As for my litter box I put hay and a news paper underneath it

Thank you so much for the help ^_^

Plain cardboard is safe. It’s even safe if they ingest it. It’s made from wood and bunnies can eat untreated wood.

You could give him twigs or even branches from untreated apple- or willow trees too, bunnies like to chew on stuff.

                              Hi there, welcome

Definitely look into getting him something to hide in, rabbits feel more comfortable when they know they have a place to run to if scared.
My rabbit likes to remodel her boxes and I let her destroy them as she has so much fun doing it.
make sure there’s no staples in the boxes that he could ingest.

There’s lots of lots of info on this website regarding diet and other things so hopefully lots of reading will get u going on the right path

Oh Regarding flea treatments, if he does have fleas u can use revolution or advantage for small cats. You can also flea comb him if needed, my rabbit actually likes being flea combed.
As has been mentioned around the forum do NOT use frontline!!!! It’s toxic to rabbits

I see Thank you, as I’m in South Flo. there’s not much apple trees or willows to find around here haha but I’ll compromise

I see and yeah I’ve been looking all over for info and guides for this little guy Thank you for the tip, would cereal boxes work? I know they have a plastic covering and that worries me a bit

Also placing a newspaper under his litter box is safe right?

I suppose I’ll look all over for a flea comb as it is highly possible he has fleas due to him being in a not sanitized area before I got him

Also what do you mean by frontline? The tick/flea treatment for doggies?

Yes, Frontline is the tick/flea treatment for doggies. It must NEVER be used on rabbits. It’ very toxic to them. We have a member whose rabbit got this very inappropriate treatment yesterday, you can read about it in the Q&A section if you want to :/

Flea treatments are selamectin (revolution, stronghold) and imidaclopride (advantage).

Newspaper is fine, my rabbit likes to tear it up and play with it.

I don’t know about the plastic covered boxes maybe someone else can help with that question

And yes Frontline is one of those flea treatments that is available for cats and dogs. But it’s bad for rabbits. I can’t remember what the chemical name is, fib.. Something

here’s his litter box idk if it’s appropriate or not and I’ve looked at others’ as well

I haven’t found a nice box for his buncave yet but soon ;(

His cage seems crowded and also I put a nice cardboard as flooring

a lil stretch ;3 and you can see that tiny poop pellet > he’s still  not used to his litter box

                                              i am a paranoid bun owner @-@

                                              @_@ he seems.. okay

i honestly don’t know what breed he is. Probably a mix but he’s adorable <3

I think he’s a he as that;’s what the seller said..

Oh believe me, the seller can be wrong. However, he or she is a cutie pie. When we got ours, we thought it was a he so he was named bucky. I was checking our bun out one day to see if the testicles had started to descend and lo and behold I found girly parts. So a name change was in order. But you have an adorkable bun, and believe me I think that of every bunny here.

Mochi sounds like a unisex name (more leaning to female more so) but if he is a she wellp makes it more cuter to have an adhd bunny. Idk if it’s binkies or not but when i let him out he would sit and jump like he had a seizure and then run for like 2 seconds and full stop.. idek

stretching out like that is a good sign he’s feeling comfy

Though u will have to cover the whole cage floor to prevent feet injuries and u can see from the pictures he’s much happier on the cardboard

Litter training can take a while and I find u always get a few poops outside the litter box, but the poops are much easier to clean up then the wee so that’s the main thing u want him/her to do in the litter

I love the crazy bunny dancing that rabbits do when theyre happy

Litter training can take a while and I find u always get a few poops outside the litter box, but the poops are much easier to clean up then the wee so that’s the main thing u want him/her to do in the litter

I love the crazy bunny dancing that rabbits do when theyre happy

He peeds on the cardboard :'( lol but yeah it ‘s gonna take a while and I’m looking atm for another piece of cardboard lol.

The crazy dancing gives me more jump scares than the recent horror movies.

My rabbit does this thing were she runs back and forth in a line so fast that I can barely see her and then she’ll fly up into what I call a jump kick
                                                        It’s so funny

If you live in an area where there are Wal-Marts, the cardboard is pretty cheap there, since the last time we picked up some cardboard in case we need to make a new house, it was 85 cents.
