› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › Hi I’m new, adopted a new bun!
Hello! My name is Lindsey and I just adopted a netherland dwarf this past week. I have built a very large cage with shelving grids for her that takes up about half my bedroom now. I am glad she lets me sleep in here too! My room has been bun proofed and she has been getting tons of free range time in my room. I have been having a lot of fun doing the research about them, and how to give her everything she could ever need. I am also looking into getting her spayed this coming week. I have grown up with guinea pigs, rabbits, horses, dogs, cats, fish, etc etc…the list would get too embarassing if I went on. I havn’t had a rabbit since I was about 12 so this is a fun journey to take again. I look forward to meeting all the members here and learning more and more about rabbits!
PS. She needs a name! I’ve just been calling her Bun! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

She is beautiful! That is great that you made her a nice big cage I am sure she loves it! We would love to see pictures of your setup if you would want to post them. We have our own gallery of different bunny cages under Bunny info on the top bar then Cool habitats.
There is also many other tips about diet and other things under Bunny info.
Hmm I am not very good with names… I named both mine after plants, Fern and Thistle. You could name her after a herb like sage, parsley, cilantro, or a plant like yarrow, parsnip, Or even Nutmeg.
EDIT: I also have my bunnys living in my bedroom, they take up almost all the space.
Welcome!
I’m also trying to come up with a name for my new bun.
She’s cute she reminds me of an ice cream cone or something =) Or maybe an Eskimo. Kirima is an eskimo name… Or Uka, for Ukalerk, which according to rabbit.com means rabbit in Eskimo…
She is aborable!!!!!! All my buns names start with D, we named the first one then the others just seemed to follow. When I looked at her I pictured a C name, but I m not very good at names!
She could totally be a Camille!
When I saw your screen name, Lintini, I thought “what a cute name for a rabbit!” … but then again, my rabbit’s name is Lint….
Thats what I was thinking! Along the lines of Camille (love the name)! A c name! a very girly spoiled little bun! She looks like such a princess!
She’s so cute! I’ve never seen a netherland dwarf with Himalayan patern like her. I love her tan nose! ![]()
Thank you all
I’ve kinda been leaning on Lily? My favorite flower is Plumeria from Hawaii, and it has a special connection with my Grandma who lived there and I spent many summers with…Plum for short? Sigh…so many names to choose from! Yeah I am totally stumped. She will be called Bun again for another day! haha!
Lily, Plumeria, Poppy
Hmmmm
oh flower names are pretty =) I think there are several bunnies on here named lily though…
Oh hm! *keeps thinking*
perhaps a name to do with her personality she sure is cute. Love that little face and short ears.
Aww -little dwarf with those markings – so cute. I always get himilayan and califorian markings confused! Her nose marking reminds me of a Koala’s nose.
Names – I vote for Plum, I can imagine calling such a cutie Plum-Plum
Plus it sounds like her current name too.
oh yeah plum is a good name, do you like that enough to use it? plumeria’s a lovely fancy full name for her.
My friend from hawaii’s parents brought me a plumeria lei for our graduation

Plum …tempting! And congrats on the graduation
Plum Plum sounds cute~
Heh I was thinking it was more of a california breed – they were made by crossing Himilayan and chinchilla breeds but who knows.
All I know is that you better be ready for a lot of rabbitude from a lil girl like that. ![]()
She is adorable. I have a bunny named Lily. I REALLY like the name.
ah-oh, sorry, maybe i got things wrong. i can’t distinguish californian and himalayan either. ![]()
Oh yea…I’ve already been pounced several times for trying to arrange things in her cage…silly me…She doesn’t bite and is very content to snuggle or be on my lap…but man don’t mess with HER cage! When I was reading up on rabbits that was one of the first things I learned about but sheesh!! It just startles me because I’m not expecting it. I’m just picking up the poos and putting them in her litter box to “help” her out as I try to litter train her. I did catch her tinkling in it but I think the poos are hit and miss still. lol!
What about…
Star
Ariel
I just don’t know, I look at her and nothing fits yit.
OH so thats what that tree is called. We have one in our front yard and some scattered about the complex. They smell so good.
What a lovely graduation picture.
Naming that girl is going to be tough. There are no words to properly describe her. She is so beautiful. I love the short stout look big face short ears. Ohhh my next rabbit is going to be a nethie. (hopefully 10 years from now as i want mine to live a long healthy live)
Plumeria sounds like a nice name for her.
What a darling little rabbit! She’s as cute as a button.
I would call her Buttons.
She’s very pretty! It looks like she got herself into some trouble, got all dirty, but just her nose and feet! The rest of her is so pristine white! I like the “c” names too… soemthing very “princessy”… like Clarissa or Carissa.
Oh, she is adoriable.
I like both Lily & Plumeria – Plum for short is way cute! ![]()
She reminds me of this LOL-CAT photo:

AWW So cute!!! That is the first time i have seen such a pretty rabbit, i just started to get interested in rabbits when i got mine, mine is still i think 11 weeks old though, not sure
Buttons is actually one of my cat’s name! I think I am going with Koko. It’s cute and sassy just like her! Need a little time to think about it some more lol! Thank you all so far for the suggestions!
Ok ok….what about…… Dakota ?? Koko just…doesn’t fit

Aw I love the little brown feets
i’ve always been fond of the name Chloe. it’s a pretty name and i think would go with the cute lil bun. or plum. actually, i really like plum. like the fruit but way cuter. a haha. my lil baby just did some key lifting exercise for like 1 sec and flopped. i guess those plastic toy lifts are pretty tough.
Ooh she’s adorable! I just love lil Himalayan nethies ♥ (:
The first thing I thought about was Mocha, cuz it looks like she dipped her paws, nose etc. in it lol.
or Macchiato or something.. her colors remind me of this..”Latte Macchiato” hehe.
here’s some others..
-Melody (Mel for short)
-Espresso
-Kailo
all I can think of right now..
You could go with Kia or something… from MaCCHIAto
I actually work at Starbucks. Blech lol. I have to hear all those coffee names too often to want to name her after them lol. Thank you though Sigh. Her registered name is Crystal. The family I adopted her from used to show her in 4H. I just don’t feel like that fits though either. Also, my grandparents have had a cat named Coco and now they have a cat named Mocha. Too many choices, I don’t think Dakota works well either. How do you guys figure out good names that fit! Bun just seems so plain but it works. “HI BUN!” Hrm.
i still like nilla what about snowflake or peep
what about Munchkin or brownie
umm….
Well just pick something you like. No worries going fast either. You’ll probably just fall into calling her something, though it might just be “bunnylove” or “smushynose” or something silly.

Looks like sibleys still thinking about names!
Sounds like her name is Bun if it’s sticking. Don’t worry, names usually morph into something else. We had a thread about all the other names we call them. You might pick an official name but end up calling her “Bun” anyway. To me, she going to be that little Plum Bun ![]()
lol… I’m a little bit obsessed with behindthename.com. I alwayssss find some reason to go to it. At work it’s to check genders of people in files (this job AND last!).
or what about another word for rabbit? http://www.rabbit.org/links/translate.html
But Bun is cute too =) And it works extra well because when you add a Y on the end to be cutsie, it becomes another real word!
Wow Sibley thanks for all those suggestions. And yea I agree Jerseygirl, all my other pets have some weird morphed names that I don’t even know how they got them as nicknames haha! I do feel slightly guilty trying to rename her too since little boys named her Crystal. *pouts* Crystal Bun.
I have a random question too. When I let her run around my room, I have it lined with shelving grids so she can’t go under my bed or dresser…she seems to know where the “weak” parts of the enclosure is and tests it. I feel like she is like those raptors from Jurassic Park!! Testing the weak parts of the fence lol! Ah good movie; well the first one anyways. But yea, do any of your buns do this too? I found myself double zip tying them after I realized she knew where it was flimsy at. I was only using one zip tie to make it easier to put away after her free range time was over. Sneaky Bun…
Yep! They seem always determined to make their way thru barriers!
If there is a way to escape, your bunny will find it!
I’ve got IT~!!!
Kasatka
It’s the name of a female orca @ seaworld, and bun’s markings are opposite-ish of an orca…
What do you think!?
I like it. It’s got a little bit of mystery and matches her so well =) And I like that it’s got a little secret reasoning behind it.
